Gadget - not a valid choice, this is not Coke vs. Pepsi. You can both not support war and not support an evil dictator. Dana - good qustion. Too bad this administration wasn't willing to ask or answer that.

Let me state I am not anti-war I just think we should have done it differently. My view of protesting is before OUR troops crossed that border once they put their lives on the line all the protesting stops. I believe Saddam made a huge mistake today with our Pow's. Instead of divideing the country more he has angered not only the military but people like myself who don't like Bush. More of the same and I'll be protesting for the gloves to come off!!!

Absolutely,
that's what one could call the "9-11" effect, Saddam tries to frighten America like "see what happens if you mess with me" like Osama did, but he has no idea what happens to people who mess with America, it just gets divided Americans to unite against him, he should call Osama on the phone more often. 11 [ 03-23-2003, 09:52 PM: Message edited by: 11 ] |

The people of the USA have protested nearly EVERY war that we have ever been in. After Pearl Harbor, while millions of Jews were being slaughtered, 10's of thousands of Americans STILL protested the war saying "stay out of it"
People will always protest no matter what the cause. Many protesters have no idea what they are protestiing anyway. I went to NYC and Washington D.C. protests and I swear It was like I was at a f*cking PHISH SHOW! Bongos and all...lol. Anyways, as I have been saying, I support our troops and I have a great freind out there right now. (He cant drive a PWC for crap) Iraq was and still is not a major threat to us or anyone else. With our unbelievable technology, might and power we could have taken down that regime with ease with a little bit of patience and time, (and a few snipers and SEALS here and there) We went into Iraq for economic and oil interests. You want a real threat?...a dictator...REAL weapons of mass destruction (nukes? A REAL half million man millitary? Look no futher than North Korea. I can go on and rant away but I wont. Please dont flame me too hard. ![]() [ 03-24-2003, 01:09 AM: Message edited by: Yami FX140 ] |

Ok I will weigh in on this subject. Being former Army I have conflicting feelings.
At first I was against the war. I felt that N. Korea presented much more of a threat BUT... After the events today with the idiot that killed his comrades and the execution of our POWS. I am ready to head out there myself. This war SHOULD have taken place in 1991...blame this on stupid politicians who made us (remember Vietnam?) hold back instead of finishing the job when we were there for part 1 in 1991. I am mad as heck. If we decide that carpet bombing is what is needed to protect OUR people, then we should do it and not worry about what idiot in Thailand thinks of our country. I absolutely DON'T like Bush at all. Saying that, I think this war is proving him to be RIGHT all along. I have friends in that war at this very moment and I wish them well. Support our Troops. (and respect ALL opinions b/c that's what makes us a good and decent country). Take care. |

ill ask again ! what should we have done instead of war?????
|

Let the UN inspectors do their job while our troops wait to go. Then if Saddam tried anything or the inspectors found anything WE would have the Moral high ground and would have the support we now lack.
|
||||
|
Hey Kard...Yeah lets give the un inspectors another 12 years....That will definitly work.
Saddam is shooting scud missles into kuwait....They were deemed illegal by the UN yet they never found them.....Why is that...LIES AND DECEPTION. 40 foot long missle on the back of a big rig and they cant find them...Yeah i would say the UN needs glasses. I do beleive the us forces have also found a chemical weapons plant as well.It is a 100 acre camo cover facility.....How can you not find that. The UN inspections are usless in iraq...Saddam has mastered the game of hide and seek. |
||||
|
I didn't say they didn't have any illegal weapons only we need the UN backing, not because we need them to beat Saddam but for after the war and for the resentment all this has caused.
And Iraq hasn't fired any Scuds they were some other missile. It really doesn't matter now!!! I was only answering the mans Q. |

north korea is next.

kard,
i respect your answer, but i do have to say this. iraq is awsome to say the least at playing a shell game , and 12 years is long enough. it is not the job of the un inspectors to locate the wmd's , but saddams responsibility. under resolution 1441 he was supposed to put everything out in the open and say here it is . plus it was supposed to be in a timely fashion. he failed to do that on all counts. africa had no problem doing it but iraq does.........it was time do do what we are doing, do i like war? no, but its time to get rid of these terrorists and nut cases out there..............in the long run it will help everyone on the planet. |
||||
|
To the shell game...Yeah we/UN gave them 3yrs to hide this stuff after they kicked out the inspectors. I thought we should have rallied support to go in then, but I guess we didn't need what ever we're fighting for then.....

1. Dont hate BUSH...Cheney is running the country!
2. NO one will dare do a pre-emptive NUCLEAR strike. Why? Because we can track the missile, MOST likely knock it down...THEN send the F117's in with a laser guided 20 kiloton bomb and wipe them out in 5 mins. Who wins??? We do! Who loses? N Korea... 3. The US dropped the bomb in WWII. Why? They figured if they invaded Japan the US would sustain 60,000 casualties. The bomb SAVED more lives in the long run and ended the WAR. READ THE BOOKS ON THIS ONE 4. Terrorists with random Chemical attacks are VERY hard to trace back to a country. A missile can be tracked. So we MUST take out all Chemical producing nations. 5. 9/11 - ENOUGH SAID 6. Low Oil prices are what drives the luxury's the WORLD enjoys. And yes that includes our GPR's 7. Protestors - are unemployed Anti-Americans. Something tells me their parents beat them when they were young. READ A BOOK ON THIS ONE. 8. The 1st amendment lets me say all this! 9. Iraq is firing Scuds, fake surrenders, and violating Geneva convention. ALL ILLEGAL 10. The lights and water in Baghdad are still ON. That is humane in time of war. READ THIS AND THINK!! IF HIPPIES WANT TO HELP CIVILIANS, TEH HELP THE MILLIONS OF AIDS VICTIMS IN AFRICA! MAIL THEM A CONDOM! |

I often wonder what percentage of the anti war protesters are even registered to vote. I also wonder if they even realize that they are working against their own country in the war due to the fact that they are actually giving Saddam encouragement in the psychological warfare portion of the war. Very sad to see indeed.

GREAT ? for Anti War people...
If an envelope from Baghad arrived at your door step, would you open it? |
||||
|
Welp, I'm employed, wasn't beaten as a child (but I did get a fair amount of discipline), I am registered to and do vote, and even worked on the re-election campaign of a republican U.S. Representative (Wayne Gilchrest) who's turned out to be VERY anti-PWC (D'oh!).
I'm not protesting against my country, but against its recent and ongoing actions. I've supported some of the recent military actions as reasonable self-defense, but over the past year this administration has practiced war mongering, and I'm plain sick of it. We're just piling new bad policy desicions on top of old bad policy decisions, and I'm not sure there's an end in sight. If you want war, you got it. Hunker down too, because this is just the beginning. More atrocities will happen, more civilians will be killed, more of our friends and family won't be coming home. And if you think we're stopping future acts of terrorism with this particular action, take a peek back in that crystal ball and tell me where I should invest my money, would ya? You want war with North Korea next? Well, they're pretty well convinced we're coming and are getting ready. Again, am I supporting the regime of KIM Chong-il? No. But war with North Korea should not be an option unless we are at a direct risk. The policy of pre-emtive strikes in the name of national security is about the most assinine, irresponsible policy enacted by an administration. I can only hope that this policy is brought to a quick end, before other nations or terrorist groups decide to pratice it first. sw |

You guys are funny! Let me give you at little background of myself.
My wife is a die hard dyed in wool Republican who loves Bush. I on the other hand think he and Rumsfeld are arrogant and greedy. But we understand each other and we agree to disagree, not only about politics but everything.. We don't try to change each others minds and we don't try to prove each other wrong. But we do have fun with it at times too. She will tell me "she loves me even if I'm wrong"!!! and I will just as quickly raise my hand and give her a "Heil Bush". I don't think it necessary to make people see it my way, and maybe that is why I sometimes sound like I contradict myself about things. The only reason I even posted on this subject was the initial post in which someone recommended going up too a protester who hasn't attacked you, who hasn't threatened you, or even verbally said anything too you, and attack him repeatedly till he thinks like you do(this is the bases of religious wars)..... I don't think we should protest the war now,.. not with our guys lives on the line. But that doesn't mean they don't have a right too. By the way I'm not a against fighting for what you believe. As long as its something you HAVE to fight about. Religion is not worth fighting about, neither is a difference of oppinion!!!! |

Correct me if I am wrong...
1. Iraq has violated UN Resolutions for 12 years 2. N Korea has pulled out and violated 2 treaty's 3. The US gets hit with 9/11 3,500 INNOCENT people die. 4. Saddam pays Palestinians to kill Israelis 5. Iran has started a Nuclear program 6. The US gives 15 billion in Aids relief to Africa. 7. The US liberates Afghanistan from Taliban. Who harbored AL Qaeda. They dont have OIL. 8. Clinton fired 380 cruise missiles at Iraq in 1998, but no one criticizes him. 9. If SUV's support terrorism, then why not protest 2 cycle engines and jumbo jets. 10. If the US economy has the bottom fall out, the WHOLE WORLD IS SCREWED! Again for all the protestors, if you opened a tainted envelope and it harmed your family, would you blame the government for NOT doing anything? Maybe if you write a letter to Saddam asking him to stop he JUST MIGHT LISTEN ...YEAH RIGHT! Mark my words, when this all over we will uncover many weapons of mass destruction and stories from Iraqi military on how they planned to kill us. Plus when the Iraqi oil money goes in Iraqu pockets, then will that protest go to rest? Do you do any of these annually? A. Drive a combustible engine car to work? B. Turn on your lights? C. Ride a jet ski? D. Take a vacation on a plane or bus? E. All of the Above Answer: E [ 03-24-2003, 03:15 PM: Message edited by: JetWash ] |
