I would really like to hear from people who are using Direcway Satellite or any other internet satellite for that matter. How is it? Thanks, Steve C.

I have a direcway 2 way system and have had it for 2 years. It works good just not as fast as a cable modem, & not as easy to share with other computers if you have more than one. You have to use internet sharing instead on a router to share the connection. But if you only have 1 computer and no cable access then it is much better than dialup.

I have wireless internet which I love because I get T1 speeds at home and there is no problem setting up networks or anything in my house or when I set it up at my bussiness office either. My friend have dsl and my is faster speeds than he can even get.

Thanks Greg I will give liquid missle a shout. Jack I only have 1 computor so I should be ok there. I have cable now & am moving to the sticks where I will not have cable or DSL so I am left with satellite which I know nothing about. Adam, do you have 2 way or have a phone line for uploading? It is good to hear people are happy with satellite. Long ago I had GTE dial up & that is the equivalent of having a stock 650 motor.

Your cable modem usualy down loads at 1.2 and up loads at 128 the direcway 2-way system is 400 each way. I don't have any idea what sat system operates at T1 speed other than a piont to point system but that won't work for you. Make sure the installers have a clear view of the sky if there is any question make them pick a different spot as it is very important for the system to work well. They put it in a spot where it had a 85% clear view at my house and it was nothing but troble. Had it moved and no problem since.
Good luck.

Hey guys thanks, someone at another site said Direcway is coming out with something new in the next couple months that will give a true 1.5 meg. I am not sure how fast that is. Thanks a lot guys.

like you said anything is better than dialup... if you need/want a faster connection.

wether or not its a true 1.5 meg generally dosent matter... there are no garrantees to the performance... the same applies to dsl and cable... I have cable and get some whopping speed rates, others that have cable may experience subpar performance... likewise my experience with dsl was... well it didnt work for me... though others are pleased. They are making headway and improvements with SAT, recently you can have both downstream and upstream data via satalite (not just downstream), again as far as true 1.5, I would not count on it, a good cable connection will always dominate... but take what you can get. I would do the same in the area your in, just reference the companies performance/quality, especially customer service/tech suppport, as with dsl I was shocked to find out the tech support did not know a thing (actually my experience with dialup tech support from the same Bell telco was excellent -dont know whats up with that).

Sorry guys, I install DTV satellite systems but not the internet stuff. I use Covad DSL for my internet browsing. Its $39 a month. For what I do its plenty fast. Waaaaaaay faster than dial-up.

Sorry
