I wish I could have gone. I don't get out as often as I would like. I have a eight month old at home with no relatives within a thousand miles. Our daughter can be a handfull. I've got clearance for the second weekend of October so I hope to see you out there.

I made a mistake on my earlier post it is October 11'th and 12'th.

You better have some good handling mods like a Shredmaster on an Ultra if you are going to race on Havasu anytime after 7:30 A.M.

JSK GPR - Please tell me how you're getting nearly 70 mph out of your GPR when the best I've gotten out of mine has been 67.1 ONE TIME! The differences between your GPR and mine are you have a d-plate, I have a C-plate, you have the stock CDI, I have the Advent.

I'd like to see pix of you smoking an STX-R in only 400 yards. I have both skis and there is no way a GPR with only those mods can spank an STX-R in only 400 yards.

My GPR spanks the crap out of the STX-R over a 1/2 to 1 mile drag but only 400 yards - no way...try putting your gps on the distance mode and go 400 yards...its not as far as you think...

Nope not going to river mid october, going to rocky point catch some mid size waves..
yea the shredmaster is a must for any rough water or even semi rough water on Ultra 150

even at 4pm in havasu, 3/4 throttle with 3 ft.chop hitting you at every direction...ski was straight and fast and fun.......

hey guys .......sorry , been offline for a couple days .......i was curious to read some of the replies from my post regarding "my best speed", i know those numbers seem high, and i cant RULE out the possibility of a unaccurate reading, but no bs..that was my reading.....ok ok lets say for a second it was wrong...my ski hits 66 on a 3/4 tank in 1 ft chop...on 2 bars i'm hitting a steady 68.0... and the other day when i hit my 69.6 i was practically emty on fuel and had been riding for a while. to be frank your numbers seem low to me....let me give you some underlying factors which may help explain or clear up any gray..... first of i have a great dealer whom is know throughout my area as the best and most race oriented dealer arround .ACTION KAWASAKI/YAMAHA OF BRADENTON...curtis and wayne are the two guys that really do the magic formula on my carbs(re-jet)understand this is needed w/ d-plate, although their re-jet is special(better)...also i have an 02 gpr w/ updated pv and retainers (50hrs on ski) tampa fl ....sea level..trim was nose up , 175lb 5'11'' superman..glasswater .........= 69.6...........i'll try to get waterproof disposable camera and take pics or have friend video tape both my holeshot on the stx-r and the finish line (holeshot even on stxr) i have top too!!! no bs

I'd love to see them mate cause our skis are virtually identical with the only diff being my C plate and advent cdi...my carbs are rejetted, and the acc pump removed...I can post stalker radar graphs proving my stats. I'd love to see some of yours. I'd also double check your speed in 1 foot chop cause even my pro level SS GPR slows way down in that kind of chop. The GPR only attains its really high numbers on flat/glass water. Anything more than that and it slows down real quick cause it can't stay hooked up.

I believe you on glass anyways. Chop will slow it down some. I was hitting 67.6 with a stage one with Prok flame arresters.Makes me wonder why I spent close to $1000 for that additional 1.1 mph. My holeshot is a lot better now though and I am hitting 68+ in 107° F. The 67.6 speed was about 85°. 70 seems pretty elusive. Maybe in cooler temps.

All I can say is to this point it has been enough to do what I want it to do, and do it so well. Big Grin

If I was feeling sqeezed by anyone I would get on the phone to Carl and figure out what the next step is. Wink

There is absolutely no way you gain 2 mph with 5-6 gallons less gasoline........get real......

at 8# per gal. you save 40# of weight, that roughly equals .1 mph gain........not 2 mph.....

100 # reduction in a race 1/4 car = 1 tenth (.01) of a time reduction......

Not trying to bash ya to death, but when people are so far off, I cant sit back and let this continue!!!! Big Grin

i agree although depending on which way we made our runs,in the canal there was a difference in speed due to the current. We made passes all day and everyone was getting better speeds going against the current (better hook) i dont have the radar equipment ...i can only say that the point i wanted to make was , yes an stx-r is a great ski , but this is a yamaha forum last time i checked, and i am true to my brand , so im going to support my gpr even though it took me a couple bucks to beat an stxr , the fact is that i do beat those stxr...my speeds may be off slightly..but allsi know is that the green ski was behind me...ps regarding 1/4mile drags...may have been a longer strip....so maybe that is why .......also there is no need to lie or stretch the truth, i am open and honost about my expierences w/ my ski and the mods i do to it...hopefully my info, and the info from the other forum memebers will help others as it has helped me.......every ski is diffrent too!!!and each ski takes to mods diffrent...i dont have to tell you ray...i read this site all day and i know which members get respect and i know that you do!!! so im basically preaching to the choir.........mods are like a custom made suit/dress , they 're taylored for your conditions ...know one person has the exact set-up.......thats all i can really say ........stay true and ride blue Big Grin

This is funny, this topic started with someone on their high horse about a GRP "stomping" an Ultra, then when I start point out facts...like a stock STX-R beating that same triple pipe GPR... the subject changes?

well that would be a fair race.A triple pipe ski vs a stocker.I can arrange a stxr with similar mods if you are interested in a shootout. I can also give you the results beforehand. The stxr is quicker and the gpr is faster.unless it's choppy then the rider will make the difference.Thats the facts jack. You guy's kill me with your mines faster cause it's a Yamaha.I race kawi runabouts and yamaha mx bikes. Why not just enjoy riding/racing both brands. They are both great boats.Scott

Why not keep the Kawasaki talk on the Kawasaki boards ????? If I wanted to talk/hear/learn about them, that's where I would go. Not to the RIVA YAMAHA/HONDA board.

My buddy has an STXR and i've raced it with my triple pipe GPR, it has never beat me once so you better get your facts straight.

Thank you JPG

Benny and Chris, are you two guys talking about triple piped GPRs beating stock STXRs? if that's the case, do you guys realize how silly that sounds? It's almost embarrasing to read this. Please tell me that you are talking about triple piped or at least heavily modified STXRs, please!

Man, you guys are still going at it. I'm sure glad hunting season has started. Its sure comes in handy to have a 70 mph bird retreiver to get the birds out of the tank when you need to. The Fossil

JPG-
This is the general topics board i.e. meaning, topics of general thoughts, threads, ideas. If you don't like the general topic of a Kawasaki, I suggest you don't read it. You obviously took the time out of your busy schedule to click on this topic, read the posts, then add your completely must have post. Guess this thread did serve a purpose after all.

To the guys talking about triple piped GPRs vs. stock STX-rs-
You have got to be kidding me. The bad thing is, if you were to race from a dead start, the Kawi probably would take you initially. Then you r mighty GPR would go on by wholesale in the mid and top. You should be so proud. Only took you 3 thousand worth of pipes to do it. By all means, take your 90mph GPRs to the race track and see how well they fare against triple piped Kawis. Hmmmmmmmmmmm, nahhh, that wouldn't be fair.
