Zoltan,
Maybe Polaris went and hired a bunch of layed off Yami employees who brought over their vast knowledge base. God know's for years folks have been claiming their Yami's and Kawi's were going 70 because the dreamo said so. The Polaris usually showed correct within 3mph until you did a scoop change. The coupler thing is killing me.

Oh my god.
I just looked at the online manual.

They took out the bilge pump system and put in those cheesy suction pickup tubes as well.

[Mad]

No, Big P, noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. I'm embarrased I ever owned one now.

They did away with the bilge pump?????????

I'm really going to have to inspect them now. I had a red one on my list to replace the SLTX but I'm slowly rethinking it and getting more and more attracted to the TXi.

[Mad] to that. Why? Afterall it is a 3 seater that stays pretty dry inside but still that auto bilge with manual override was sweet! Maybe because you can now access the gauge functions from the handlebar without having to remove your hands, there was no room for a bilge pump button? That is pretty cool not to have to take your hands off the bars to access gauge functions. What next, no Hydro-Turf mats just non skid peel and stick paper [Smile]
Sirhc, adding a bilge pump is probably not even necessary but we get used to some of the things Polaris has done in the past. I wouldn't let that sway me away from it. Now if the Hydro-Turf mats were gone, forget it. That would be the most upsetting thing.

That bilge pump saved both my SLTX and X45 during a wave jumping day at San Diego. I would never consider riding ocean without one.

I also noted that at the world finals, the ski had a little fin molded on the turn nozzle. It doesn't show up on the parts listing. Hmmmmm. Little pre-production fun?

It's just becoming frustrating to learn that Polaris is gradually doing away with all the little things that made it so nice...no bilge pump now, cheaper and weaker coupler, even worse speedo. What's next? A pump that requires regular maintenanc?! It's depressing me...

You're right though, no Hydro-Turf would be going too far [Eek!]

Mark, yes a bilge pump is a must on anything that goes in the ocean, imo. The fin was for off power steering. In production, Polaris went with the Arctic Cat pateneted idea of ESP (Enhanced Steering Performance). When you turn the bars, it will give a little throttle automatically when no throttle is applied manually. There are improvements and it seems like some things had to go. I wonder if the driveshaft set up is to shorten the driveshaft itself due to the extended pump. Maybe it is more forgiving because in the past, you had to have near perfect alignment not to strip splines. Those Polaris driveshafts are long. I have never had a spline problem and I'm revving way over stock but did you notice that on the Pro785, the shaft is the shorter SL750 shaft with the extension behind the stator? Now we are really going off topic [Smile]

Sirhc, one of my favorites is the Polaris pump. Simple, effective and comes apart in minutes.

The reason I am afraid to have Wifey jumping waves on the MSX 140...

The reverse gate on the back sticks out soo far and is shaped as such to be asking to be ripped off the ski on the downward fall of the ski after jumping a wave. It looks more fragile than the XL. The windshield on the front has a nice big hole underneath it and the minute she eats a wave, the water will go right thru it and possibly rip the darn thing off.

The MSX 140 is bigger than my ole XL1200.
a friggin barge lol

Ok, so it's way biger than the XL and even the GPR, but it feels light on the water and playful. Least for the 2.5 hours I was on it.

We have been brainstorming about the plastic windshield. Thinking of removing it and taking it to a glass place and having a larger peice of plexiglass formed to attach in stead. Eliminate the hole and reduce chances of losing it on an errant wave.

Oh yeah, the waves...

I just won't jump to close to shore. Or maybe add a hull extension? Human's are inventive when nessecity dictates....

Hubby is a genius anyway. He designed the tool shed then built it, w/o ever learning carpentry skills or design school. So it's slightly lopsided... That's just one of the many. Put your mind to something and it's amazing, the possibilities are endless...

Folks,
Glad to see you are being safe. I'm sure you will find a way to ride it in the surf. Hey, If you can't ride it like a personal watercraft, then take it back. I say, "Ride it like you stole it". If the windshield rips off, THEN get worried. I'd be more worried about face planting that bad boy. But with the "superbike style gas tank thingee" you should be able to hook in with your legs to prevent flopping forward over the bars. However, we ARE talking about doing an activity, in which you are putting yourself in harms way. You make the call.

As far as the reverse bucket goes... We have been worried about this in offshore riding/racing, since day one. Rob Johns swore that his reverse bucket repeatedly "lawn darted" him in in a nasty cross wave race in San Felipe. Quite frankly, we never used reverse, so off it would come, and go into a box, nice and safe, to be reinstalled when the ski was sold. Consider doing this as well. Put the attachment bolts in the box for safe keeping as well.Tie off the reverse cable to one of the two upper pump screws.

Sky...

The shed is not that lopsided. If you recall, I made the mistake of putting the roof on before the sides. I know better now. That shed was perfectly square otherwise. It also looks very sharp with windows and trim. Matches the house....

Come on ..it was my first big project. Look what I have done with the garage....its perfect.

I am SOOOOOOO flippin’ mad!

My dealer said to call today. Parts would be in and he’d only need an hour to put it together then I would be on the water.

Called the dealer today: “I don’t have the couplers. I called Polaris and they said they are on back order. Should be delivered by this weekend.”

My response: “I took Friday off to come get the ski. I’ll be there by 10 am. If it’s not ready then gimme a new ski.”

His response: “I have tried to get the parts, have them overnighted. Polaris says one thing then says another. I can’t authorize a new ski. I know you’re angry, I’m trying, it’s the best I can do. Call Polaris customer service. Explain it to them, see what they say.”

Polaris gets this from me: “I just bought the ski, put 2.5 hours on it and it commits suicide. I am taking Friday off to go get the ski. It WILL be fixed or I WILL get a new ski. Where are the flippin’ parts?”

“Oh the computer shows those parts have been delivered. I can’t give you a new ski, you’ll have to handle this with your Dealer.”

“Well, then authorize him to take those couplers off the other MSX he has and put them on mine.”

Round and round we went. The Cus. Rep. Said “I feel your frustration but there’s nothing I can do.”

Ok then. Fine, we will play this game. You sold a defective ski to the dealer who unknowingly sells it to me. That means pay up baby. I will call tomorrow, if he doesn’t have the parts and he’s not fixing my ski then give me a refund! Dangit!

I’ll go get a new ski from someone else and to hades with Polaris! Flippin’ scammers, good service my arse, good product my arse. Darn right I am flippin’ furious.

Give me my money back!

Here's depressing for u:

Vendor ships couplers to warehouse yesterday. + Warehouse hasn't "entered" the product into inventory yet. = Dealer doesn't have the parts to complete the ski.

Well, there goes my weekend....

...and Polaris alienates another good customer on one of their most important watercraft since they started making them.

Sad.... [Confused]

Hey Folks,

I went Friday nite to pick up my NEW ski.

Friday morning the dealer got the parts and he put them on the ski, after finishing up he cranked it up and guess what .... happened again.

So my dealer says the engine is off balance, not aligned. Come get a new ski.

Sat was breakin day. We GPS at 58 mph. Sun was interesting, 4 out 5 jet skis are running. My cousin who owns my former ski, the Yama xl800 jumped a boat wake and busted her nose good on the handlebars. Blood everywhere. Not even 30 minutes later my hubby suggested we GPS the MSX again. I said ok, hold on I'll be right there pass it off to me. No don't throw it.

He threw it...grazed my hand and hit the water, sank. Oh well.

Anyway, the ski runs great. Very little vibe, dry ride, nice hole shot. On turning the ski digs into the water, no hook and toss like the other skis. Engine has 6 hours on it after this weekend. After some searching, I finaly found the flush hook up. Now all I need is the kit.

Overall I am happy. I just can't wait to see how it performs on the ocean. But, I need the flush kit before I can do that.

Congrats,

I'm glad to see the dealer salvage (correctly) a potentially ugly situation.

Polaris NEEDS to stay on top of this ski situation.

Be careful out there.

Sprite, Glad to see your dealer gave you another ski, and sending that problem ski back to Polaris.
Now take care of it and lets hope it takes care of you.

A very pleasant ending to this story indeed [Smile]

The dealer impressed me alot. He was waiting on confirmation from Polaris to give the okay for a new ski. Polaris told him they would if it broke again. It broke after they installed the new parts. The dealer took the initiative and made sure Skysprite had her ski this weekend.

Kudos to the dealer. I will do more biz with them in the future if I can. [Smile]

Dealer is in Florence SC. And I can say..They WILL take care of ya.
