whats the best product for rust. my 95 f-350 frame is near death....so i have begun a light restoration project on the frame.

i have turned up some products from some other forums, but was hoping a few guys on here would have some experience with them for some feedback. dont know people on those other forums as well as some of you....

POR 15 http://prp-porshop.com/

ZERO RUST http://www.mfgsealants.com/ZeroRustMain-ZeroRust.html

Rust Bullet http://www.rustbullet.com/

im going to be using aluminum oxide to blast the heavy stuff away then mainly sand blast the entire frame. so i should be able to get it donw to good metal.

this is the second truck that im close to loosing to rust. my first was a 1986 GMC that we where original owners on....it had 50k miles on it in 1996 and was a complete rust loss. my 95 f-350 only has 60k on the clock and i have owned it since 1996. sitting kills trucks. but at 9 miles to the gallon....its not friendly on the wallet!

its just amazing to me that the body is absolutely fine, but the engine block, chasis and suspension is nearing death.

The original sheetmetal primer is applied with what is called a E-Coat process. (After the cab and box are welded, they are dipped in a large electrically charged vat, 150 vdc I think, where one electrode is attached to the sheetmetal, drawing to and bonding the primer to the metal.) This should last a long time, as long as the coating is not removed by sanding.

Back then, a simple wax based coating was applied to frames.

i know of eastwoods stuff. the guys over here http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1870434#post1870434 seem to like the zero rust the best.

i started to pull the bed off this thing last night. i cant believe how bad it is. i dont think some components would have made it through the winter.

gw, i suppose that why the body is fine....it looks as good as it did in 96 when i bough the truck.
