1st race @ Beasley's point was a little rough but a whole lot of fun. What can I expect this weekend in the surf at Wildwood? Several racers told me they would bring their 3 seaters for the enduro. Is this old dude biting off a little more than he should?? I really did like the CC race but I can't imagine what it would be like in the breakwater. Guess I'll find out soon enough.

There is only one way to find out Billy Boy, see you there. Are you doing endurance again?

Yeah Mario!! Endurance is the main race for me but I'll try CC again. See ya there.

Well I didn't win the lottery tonight so we may just have to camp out if my in-laws house is full. Anyone else camping at Wildwood? Hope to see everyone there

Bill I will be there also. Green Chevy Tahoe with NH moose plates PWCLVR and an 18' v nose trailer. It should be on the beach tomorrow at like 6 or so.. We are staying at the Beach Hotel on E. Lincoln Ave. Look us up or give me a call 617-840-1671. I am sure I will be drinking beers to get over the ride and headache from the traffic coming down.
Danny what is up with your boat? Is it down yet or not? I just got an email from Chris K. He is selling his boats. Mario call me and if you want the sofa you can have it for the weekend. I will leave a key under the trailer as long as you tell me in time.. Call me when you get close to town.. See everyone else there tomorrow. |

Well to say the least this was a very fun filled event. 16-17 beginner entries!! Had to make at least 5th in my heat to make it to the final moto on Sunday! Not an easy task with a giant 3-seater in CC. But I made it!! Of course in the final it was tough going & I finished 8th out of 12. Mario & those 3-seat STXR's are just hard to beat. Endurance race was just that. Wind picked up late Saturday afternoon and pounded us. We took home a 2nd though!! I've only participated in 2 events now, but I can say one thing for sure. If you don't try racing your PWC at least once you are missing an experience of a lifetime, plus you get to meet SO many great people. If you're lucky like me you'll meet many of the people on this forum. Next race July 20th!

Thanks for the kind words Bill. I had a bad first moto and just qualified scraping my butt though i got a good start but was unfortunatelly hit by jetwash so hard that my helmet visor fell and caught on the lip so I couldn't get it off my face leaving me blind for the duration of the race, I just had to grin and bare it, I also was plagued with fatigue due to a "fun filled" (NOT) sleepless night which didn't help. Sunday was a different story and though the flag start really confused me and I got a bad one, I was able to fight to the finish and make second place. My main nemesis PatM was (fortunatelly for me) plagued with some issues with the GPR and wasn't able to pass me allowing me a second place on final moto and third overall.
I'd like to thank my friends and team mates Bill Cosca and Darrell Murinelli for their support and help through these first season jitters and Pat Mollentieri and Bill B. my competitors for their comaradery, sportmanship and friendship. You are a class act Pat and give you a very special thanks for your help and support. Thanks also to those kind enough to sponsor me during my teething season, Riva Yamaha, Cosca Performance, Jettrim and Exotic Signs. |

Mario: You gotta get a Team together for the Endurance races they are really a blast, especially if you can get the young fast guys or girls to help with the riding duties. I can usally last for about 20 or 30 minutes at a time in the rough and then let my much younger partner take over for a while. Thanks for for all of your help at the race. Great to meet even more people every race.

I might do endurance next year Bill, this year I want to concentrate on cc, besides all the holding/shuffling boats around duties keep me pretty busy and worn for an endurance race so untilk my stamina gets to where Im need it to be I will not tackle that task, call me selfish, but when I do endurance I will not do team, I want to challenge myself all the way.

Mario: Anyone that can ride solo for that long has my complete admiration!! Go 4 it dude!!

Bobbi of PWCToday.com, got a great pic of Pat (110) Bill B. (Blue XLT behind #710 GPR) and myself (621) leaving the line yesterday.

Mario: Thanks for the pic. Guess I better work on my starts for next race!

Stand up my friend, even though we're running on runnabouts, you can't race while sitting.
One bad leg makes standing a little tough, but I'm working on that for the next race.
Ahh I see, well the , maybe you can shift possition on the seat.
Mario, who says you cant race while sitting? i only stand on the way to the first turn.i taught andrew how and he won stock class 1200.i won both motos of ss.sitting allows you to grip the seat with your hips and takes alot of pressure off your arms.i ride with my hands very loose.i watched you ,you looked alot better.looked like you got the holeshot and lost track of the bouys. Not trying to tell you how to ride but you might try it.it works for me.way up front pushing down on the bars.See you in pa.#66 stx will be back in action i hope.im gonna need a little more juice to run with darryl in flat water. What the heck happened to bill? his race was on the line and it looked like he was trying to drag his/your boat in the water.cant believe how well the honda did.that was cool.see ya,scott

i noticed all the shorter riders tend to stand up while racing.
for the men who are 6'2''it makes it diffucult to race while bending down and stearing by your knees! especially while ridind a xp i sat for wildwood and still got a first place in novice 800 stock and 2nd in pro am 1200 stock with the 800! who says you have to stand up on a runnabout? |
i learned it from a guy named steve new who used to race an x4 hull sea doo sitting down,he was really good.he used to dominate in 800 class .to me it makes sense because it lowers your center of gravity so if you catch a weird wave or bump someone you usually can hang on.i put my feet back and push a knee into the tray when i turn.looks a little weird but so far it is working for me.just a thought to try,i am certainly no pro.they do stand up.but hey i aint Chris mcluggage.my body thinks im still 20 and my brain is gettin a good laugh outta that.my motto is refuse to grow up.long as your havin fun racing thats all that matters .see ya ,scott
