I am going to buy a GPS unit and I was looking at the garmin 72, just wondering if this is a good unit. I found it on amazon for $140.

I have that model. It works good and it even floats. At West Marine the sell a really cool handle bar mount for it. I forgot what I paid but that sounds a little cheaper than what I got it for.

Swagtime, I called the West Marine store this morning, the guy went and looked to see if he had a mount for the 72. He came back to the phone and said they didn't carry a handlebar mount for that model. I told him that you had purchased one there and he said maybe he got it from Garmin because we don't carry it, or he rigged up another mount to fit it.

This is what the web site says. The guy you talked to looked only under the accessories for your model probably. This bracket is for a different model but it works on mine. I tried to put a picture of it up here but I am unable to get it to go. Anyway, go to the Garmin web site and you will see what I mean. I just screwed this bracket to the back of mine and it works good.
