Mooky,
To address your point, I do have a Skat on its way to me, if I do some c/c I will pop it in, but I beieve the Island Racing pump will serve me better during enduros, which is probably the class I'll stick to.

Is the pump you are getting different besides the prop bend? What is it a D setback or?

So you will see me around the Reg 8 races this year, but of course you won't get the pleaure of whippin my boat unless you do endurance or the few c/c woosy class races I'll enter

Malta,

I have the R&D setup including trim tabs which I bought used so I really don't know what year they are and the guy that sold them was selling them for a friend so he didn't know etc. I also use the 2 bar grate and Basetec sponsons which I believe are not available anymore. Frankly the sponsons really settled my porpoising aquired after I installed the R&D plate, but the trim tabs are what really keep the boat planted. Unfortunatelly this didn't come without a price, as the boat now has a problem turning at lower speeds and it doesn't dig the nose in when turning as I like it to, so the tabs will be disappearing and the development of this hull will start from scratch all over again.

So should we all assume that the 76 mph "stocker" numbers are from a day when the current was about 8mph

Roland.......how are you determining how "fast" the current is going when you radar or GPS? You said "one day the current was 3 mph". How did Carl determine that the current was moving at 3 mph? Did he hold up a radar gun as you floated by at 3 mph and then deduct or add 3 mph to the runs you then made? Also, since tide flow and current fluctuate how often did you check as it is changing? Also....as you were "floating" by was it a true 3.0 mph or was it more like 3.9 mph .....and you just conservatively called it 3 mph? Does your radar read in tenths?

No Flames to you.....just very curious.

Also.....I like the sound of "Super Bore"

DMD-no remarks--just a straight answer
as i said earlier in the post the south shore is affected by the tide depending on where and when you test. when the tide is moving in one direction you have to take #'s both ways and that determines the difference. the north shore( where we did most of our testing)is un affected again
bottom line is #'s are just that ---#'s----when you pull up next to someone and get down to business is where it counts

DMD I believe Roland's 3mph number was figurative and not litteral, an aproximation based on whatever criteria he might have wanted to base it on. The comment was "one day the tide IS going 3 mph" etc, etc, not "one day the tide WAS going 3mph" which would make it anecdotal.

Carl.......we agree....#'s are just numbers.

Where we differ is when #'s (that are just #'s??) become "world class" #'s that nobody else has ever seen on a stock GPR.....with not a fact attached to it for "secret reasons". Then you can see how #'s AREN'T just #'s anymore.

I also agree.......line 'em up....truth be told.....have fun doin' it.

Mario.........Let's not hope that Carl's guess was an "approximation" on tide/current speed......that would mean his whole thread on the fastest stock GPR #'s ever recorded was nothing more than a guess. That wouldn't be a good thing now would it.

This is going to kill me to say this but:
Not for nothing guys, whether the tide is going left - right - 3 mph in any direction, the Island Boys (Carl, Roland and others) turn big #'s. When you pull up next to them, they produce what they say. I've been in situations where I've beaten(on my Ultra) one of their boys and had Carl jump on the same ski and put two ski lentghs in front of me. You guys can sit here and fight over all the conditions in the world, but it comes down to this - they're fast. Unbeatable? Don't think so...things are coming their way and this summer (no matter what the conditions are) will be the test. All in good fun - can't wait to get out there.

I'm wondering where this is coming from DMD, I'm talking about Roland's comment and you suddenly wand to talk about Carl's speed claims. If you are so incredibly obcessed with proving that Carl's handywork does not produce fast boats, why is it that you don't hitch your trailor and come join Carl for some one on one, I don't get what your obsession here is. I started this thread not to make idle claims, but to document my current status for those who give a **** , but you are dead set on turning this into yet another Carl bashing thread. No unbelievable claims were made, absolutely no, I make faster boats than you statements were written, nothing of the sort was implied, how is it that you find the need to step in here and make it into another flame the LI boys event?

Roland if you want to see Dana, you're gonna have to put sugar in the water or take him to Lake Ronkonkoma, he's fresh water exclusive, so stop trying. Maybe just go up North for a spell, if nothing else it'll be fun, I might even be into going up if a few peepz from LI are into it. In any case I hope to be able to play with you guys and hopefully learn something for a change, I definatelly need to get some speed out of my boat, but cant depend on Carl or Bill or anyone else to give it to me, but it will depend on my soaking as much knowledge from you guys so I can do it myself and stop freakin around with these baby speeds.

Sounds good to me Roland. I look forward to meeting you , Carl, and all the Long Island Boys. Don't worry, if I lose a race or two my ego will be ok Smile It is good to see all the Northeast boys on this forum. We need to all get together a couple of weekends this summer for some riding, radaring, racing, etc. I don't care if I have the slowest boat there I will still have fun.
