Mark: I have to work that weekend so I won't be there but both Sue & Barry are coming down. Barry wins a bunch of the races up here. I'm way too old to try that by myself. Team is the only way to go for us "old guys" especially when you have a 20 something teamate!!

Pssst...Mark C, if you don't cheat, you won't be DQ'd. However, cheaters should expect to be DQ'd.

Here's the deal: It is the rider's responsiblitiy to ensure that his/her own boat is legal. It is my responsibility to those racers who run legitimate boats to DQ those who don't run legitimately. Fair deal? I think so.

Everyone runs under the same rule book.

SouthTX,
Nothing. I've never purposefully broken the rules, and don't plan to.

But I did go to the world finals last year. That's was very interesting indeed.

Hey Lee!

Glad to hear you shoot it straight. Get in the class you belong in, don't bring a boat into a race that is not qualified to run it, and most of all read the rule book. That is why we all get them. RPM.... look forward to seeing you again!! This is gonna be a great event! May the best riders win. Let's all show up and have fun, that is what the sport is all about!!!

Here's some of the latest info on the event.

2003 ENDURANCE NATIONALS

The 2003 IJSBA Endurance National Championships, as promoted and directed by TeamSport Racing Promotions, Inc., will be held on September 13 & 14 at Belton Lake, Texas. Belton Lake is a beautiful central Texas lake located between Austin and Dallas, five miles northwest of the city of Belton, and is easily accessible from the north or south by way of Interstate 35. The lake, controlled by the US Army Corps of Engineers, is over 12,000 acres and is breathtaking with its natural “Hill Country” shorelines.

The race site will be located within the Belton Lake Outdoor Recreational Area (BLORA). The park makes for the perfect family weekend outing. BLORA features over 800 acres of year-round recreational excitement, including a beach, water slide, party pavilions, jet skis, paddle boats, boat ramps, nature trails, horseback riding, RV campground, fishing dock, cottages, playground, family picnic sites, primitive camping, marina boat storage, watercraft rentals, dry storage area and marina resale store. A new mountain bike course is also available. All of this is available for only $5 per vehicle. More information on the park can be found on the BLORA website at www.hoodmwr.com/blora.

The 2003 IJSBA Endurance National Championships will feature a “moto” scoring system with each class racing on both days. The course will be a four- to five-mile long circuit track, featuring at least one long straightaway mixed in with several large sweeping “SuperCourse” turns.

Saturday night will feature a catered pasta dinner and giveaways at one of the spacious open-air BLORA pavilions that overlook the lake. Music and other activities will also be available.

I have attended a couple of the races at Lake Belton. One this year and one last year. I will say that Lake Belton is a truly beautiful lake. Rolling hills, deep water, and extremely well kept. It is a great place to visit with children and we are really looking forward to attending the Sept nationals. I am sure, from my previous experience with TSR events, it is going to be a well managed and high energy event.

FYI, I did take some pics of both rounds I attended last year and this year. For those of you wanting a better idea of Beltons terrain and the race location, here are links to those rounds. While most of the pics are race shots, there are some color shots as well.

All I can say is it was one great event!! Mark, Eric and all the others with RPM Racing, great seeing you all again. Fernando, it was great meeting you in person! Marty Roberts of Team Sport Racing put on a great event. The weather didn't hold too well for Sunday, but the races went on. Thank you Team Sport Racing for such a great weekend and hope everyone in Endurance Racing has a great off season!!
