About five years ago, I was moving about 60mph on a SeaDoo and hit a series of waves wrong and it bucked me off to the side. The Ski skimmed ahead of me while I skimmed backwards on my back behind it (that wasn’t what hurt). As both me and the ski were skimming across the water, the ski caught edge, turned sideways and almost stopped instantly. Me on the other hand kept skimming on my back and blasted into the ski head and shoulder first. Shoulder has never been the same since. I think my head is ok, I can’t remember.

1996 on my "brand new" Polaris SLTX. The seat is about 3inches thick from front to back. I was a brand new rider. I was racing a Tigershark on my local lake, (55mph) and caught a wave wrong. The ski came up, and hit me in the arse, and thru me up in the air and I tumbled across the water. It scared the heck out of me. Later I found out I broke my tailbone... pain for 6 months, and had to sit to the side of a chair whenever I sat down. It sucked.
I did a backflip off the GPR a month or so ago due to greasy hands, and not paying attention. Yeeeeouch!

Jumping waves I landed hard enough to break my ankle in three places. Still have two plates and nine screws from that one. Also came off at Oceanside harbor doing 60 on a GSXL. The fall didn't hurt, but my buddy running over me as I was resurfacing did.

Landing FLAT from 25 ft over the water (reef waves look like they're about to break and smoothen by the time you hit them).
Landing can cans with my butt in a gunwale.
HellClickers with the ankles RIGHT on the bars.
Nose grabs with my stomach on the bars.
270 rolls with your eardrum hitting the water first.
Falling backwards in a foot strap and end with the strap half way to the knee (Do NOT install straps on your ski)...
Hitting a sand bar at WOT on a stand up breaking the pole with my shoulder (and my shoulder).
Falling from high 60s and bouncing like 5 times.
My favorite, even if it's on skis, jumping a 30 ft cliff into a thin layer of snow over a THICK layer of rocks.

I think I am just a little clumsy...

i got hurled off of an ultra 150 with triples among other mods. I tried to cut thru a boat wake at full speed and the next thing i knew was my shoes were floating and my helmet visor was in my face. That was the last time for that ski.

My first time ever on a waverunner. My friend's Venture 1100. Too many all nighters at Portland strip clubs added to the fatigue (hit 12 clubs. At least 60 strippers took my money lol!) I was having such a blast riding for hours and hours and I got to a point where a little voice in my head told me to come to shore and take a rest. 10 minutes later something caused me to lose it. My friend on shore said I did a couple of cartwheels on the water. I didn't know it at the time but evidence popped up. My ribs bounced off the ski. I had a huge bruise over a kidney. I think the boat hit a wave or something and my hands just slipped off. Boat stopped, I bounced and flew.

Anyways I was a total cripple for over a week. After that I was simply a recovering cripple. Took me 10 minutes to get up and out of bed. Pulling up my boxers was almost impossible. My back really got f'ed up. When I got home I did some of my sister's magic back yoga a couple days in a row. You know how it goes, you feel better so you stop. Hehehe. Anyways back took a couple months to heal. It's as good as new now. I think I had a full recovery after about 3 months. The funny thing was, even on the car ride back to meet up at my friend Kurt's (the Venture owner) I was telling my other friend Bart that I just had to get me one of those!!! This was while I was more crippled than a 90 year old man. Hehehe, I forgot to mention. After a half hour on the shore right after the accident I took the venture out and just ran it in circles for about 15 minutes to help stretch out the back. Put those g-forces to good use. It's just coincidence I ended up with the same model waveventure. A good deal on a GPR or an XLT and I would have grabbed one of those just as easily.

It's a miracle my back made a complete recovery. I'm telling you, it's the magic back yoga. 4 poses. Lol, they happen to be called the magic four.

Last fall Cajundude and I were chasing down the "Shark Nose", a Joe's Crab Shack boat that takes customers for rides out in the Gulf. It kicks up the most amazing wake! We approached, made a huge jump, and chased after it for a second jump (this boat does about 60 at cruising speed). Well, I caught up with it, and not thinking, turned the handlebars to make my jump. Forgot I was doing about 55 or 60 mph...The boat stuck hard in the turn and pitched me off sideways. I landed on my back, smacked the back of my head on the water, and both my knees came up and smacked my forehead! Had to get a CAT scan due to mild concussion. Embarrasing telling people that the two large bumps on my forehead were from my knees.

Few years back my raider grate was coming off due to bad crack duct. After losing my 3rd and last intake grate. I decided to ran my raider without the grate. At full speed my raider hit a wave that turn the ski to the left and me doing a quick 360 into the water. I was bruised and sore from head to toe on my right side which hit the water first. Needless to say you cannot get me on a ski without a grate. Im now in a habit on feeling under the boat just to make sure.

No online pics. I've got a really crummy photocopied handout and a video. I've got a few friends I promised this stuff to long ago. Been meaning to scan in the handout and get the text into a word processor to clean it up and capture the video to burn onto a VCD. I'll try to hurry up on that project Wink

http://www.theyogaspot.com/yoga_videos.htm

The video "Yoga for Your Back" is the one I have although the newer one called "Primary Practice" looks like it covers the Magic 4 also. My sister gave me the handout as a set of minor corrections to the poses in the "Yoga for Your Back" video that make them a little safer or more comfortable. I forget which, lol! Sis used to work for Rama Berch in La Jolla at Master Yoga Academy. I'm telling you, I was totally crippled and just four days of those magic 4 poses and I was on the road to recovery. I should have kept it up but I'm a lazy ass. What can I say, it worked for me! Big Grin

Last year, I took a ride on my friend's Ultra 150. Hadn't ridden it much, so I stupidly was running along the lake at WOT. Saw boat wakes rolling towards me, so I let off the gas some. Hit the wakes at around 50 or 55 I would guess. Ski went airborne and rolled to the right out from under me. All I could think of was get away from the ski. I bailed off the left side with the thought going through my head, "This is going to hurt."

I skipped two or three times and I didn't hardly feel it. Then WHAM. I must have hit the front side of a wake and slammed to a stop. It knocked the wind out of me for several seconds. Bruised up my right kidney area. It started aching an hour or so later, then I was miserable for about a week. My shoulder, back and side hurt constantly. Took me 3 weeks to fully recover.

I don't know how you guys can climb back on a ski and do the same thing again. I don't ever want to go through that again! I'm much more cautious now. My wife and daughter need me healthy, especially since I work in construction. Smile

It's not too tough!
1st, get a little 2 stroke oil on your hands.
Bring ski up to about 20mph.
Hammer the throttle.
Let your left hand slip off, while squeezing the throttle.
Wrench the bars to the right as you start your backwards/upwards climb.
At this point the ski should be shooting out from under you. Small children and pretty girls have all started to laugh loudly at this point.
Next the hull will hook violently right, catching your feet, and throwing you up, like a bottle of jack, and a bad burrito.
2 choices: Hang on to the right hand and let it pound you silly, or let go, and finish your ballet of stupidity.
