He just left my house with gas cans, water and food for his family that are still in Biloxi, so ya'll keep him your prayers for the next few days.
He's gonna try and talk his family into coming here to Fort Walton and stay while they re-build their city. The devastation that I have seen on t.v. just boggles the mind, I'm going to try and get over there next week and help. '01 1300 BB w/ triples, Special K porting, PistonWash tuning...85.2 mph. |

Wait until you see it in person pistonwash. Tuesday my father an I went to check on our house. we had to walk five miles over piles of debris. some as high as eight feet or so. There were houses in the middle of the street. Bodies laying around. When we did get to the house the second story was still standing. But it was standing on the ground. The first story had become the basement. There had been 25 foot of water in the house. We stayed in MS for 5 days w no power before my wife and I decided we needed to leave with my one year old son. My parents are still there. We are in lafayette with my uncle for a few days. I will return on Sunday to try and help. South MS looks like a war zone. Price gouging on gas where you can get gas not everywhere but some stations. When you do go be sure to bring plenty of gas with you because it is extremely hard to get it there.

This is America and this will be our finest hour..you watch 250 million people get behind the effort and things will get better quickly.

Its the finest hour for the rescuers and all involved in helping but not from the Government. President Bush has appeared to be slow to act and not caring about the plight of the citizens!
He should be making a more passionate show of support, its not looking good from a world perspective! |

Could I point out that you are in Australia not the Southest United States? You are only seeing what our left-slanted press is reporting. Its been my experience when a hurricane is due to arrive, you move all your assets away from it (WHICH IS WHY NAVIES LAUNCH), until it passes and the rescue effort can begin. The New Orleans disaster is TOO many people jammed into an area well below sea level that didn't believe the hurricane would really come--too many false alarms I guess. If there's any fault to be dished out, I would begin with the Mayor of New Orleans and work my way up the state to the Governor's Office, which is who activated National Guard units. I would also blame every fatherless crackhead of all colors and ethnicities that are shooting at the people trying to save the city for spreading their suffering. I would gladly volunteer my services as a counter-sniper but my PD won't give me the time off, so all I can do is send money and material, which I have done now to the tune of $400 bucks, I will drink on Bourbon St. again someday. Taken from the Yahoo message boards...
1. The State/local/city folks within Louisiana knew for days that a category 4+ storm was on the way. They also are the ones most familiar with the prediction models of what would occur with such a storm in their own state. 2. Armed with such information and primary responsibilty, the State/local/city could have sent buses and had planned for evacution of the "poor" in New Orleans ahead of the storm. However, it is all to easy now to try to politicize this and blame Bush and the feds. Typical. Don't blame Bush and the Fed's... blame our Governor. She didn't ask for federal help until the Wedensday after the storm

Sorry, I just realized you would have gone back by now. If you come back to Lafayette, the offer still stands. By the way, if you have a pickup, you can probably still rent 100 gallon tote-tanks to haul with you in case gas isn't available.
