I am flying to Ft. Lauderdale in August, my wife always wanted to stay in Miami and see Art Deco/Boardwalk, South Beach but the hotel reviews are all AWFUL even the expensive ones.

We want a simple place, either on or across the street from the beach, pool, and maybe just outside the noise of south beach would be nice.

If you are going to be in Fort Lauderdale area, I would look at staying at Seminole Hard Rock(great pool) and driving south to see south beach, but the parking at south beach is a pain on the weekends. Check the Hollywood Westin Diplomat out..on the beach!

Stay in lauderdale , the embassy suits are nice and affordable, close to beach and shops in the area. Miami is close too not a long drive either, hard rock is in a bad area of town
