Just ordered two small parts Monday 8-28-06 from Riva.

Web site shipping costs said $35.00 for overnight. Jennifer called (very nice) and said that was incorrect, it would be $45.00 overnight or $35.00 two-day UPS.

I checked the UPS detailed time & cost calculator for this shipment. There were 6 shipping options, so I can see how they might get confused, however there are were two overnight options, morning & afternoon. Morning $45.00 & afternoon, $35.00. And these are not even the discount UPS rates volume shippers get.

Anyway, the bottom line is to always check your shipping options before you order overnight from Riva.

Also, it appears they are adding costs to the actual shipping charges above what they pay. If that were for handling & boxing, it should be a separate line item.

I work for the other very large transportation company, you know the guys UPS hopes to be some day.

Big shippers get very large discounts with any package or freight carriers. I would bet UPS has a very good discounted shipping rate with them. As info.

The head of your shipping department needs to contact their UPS account rep. and discuss discounts.

They are not going to just lower your rates without talking to them. Paul T is absolutely correct.

To clarify, we are talking about commercial account volume rates being discounted over consumer or low volume rates.

No worries, QM. And thanx!

PT - We use FedEx as well and have spoken to them several times. They aren't willing to work with us when it comes to drop off and pick up times as well as a few other issues that are important to us.

Let me look into it. I have some FedEx contacts I call in South Florida(My home town) that can address your needs. What times do you need and is it FedEx Ground or Express? I am with FedEx Freight, so if you need big stuff like skis, motors or pallets of oil that's what I do. I can help there as well directly.
Thanks,
Paul T
