After reading lots of messages on this forum i'm convinced that i need a pump plug kit and a solas impellor so that i can pull a skier on my xl 1200. The local dealer here is recommending a solas 12/18 however most people on this forum talk about a 13/19. Can someone explain how they are measured what does 12/18 refer to. I am mechanically minded but new to PWC's what is involved in changing the impellor. I have all the info on pump sealing.
thanks to everyone who has helped on previous posts..

parkeryamaha has an impeller Q&A page under "technical" that explains how impellers are pitched. Group K also has a bunch of good info on tuning pwc's in general. Look up the technical and archived documents.

Carl @ Island Racing has ben really working hard on a 1200XLT and has spent hours on the phone with me helping me out. He can put you in the right direction for your ski.

MTS, what year is your XL? It's mentionned nowhere and XL1200 were made in 98 only, 99' XLLs and 00/01/02 XLTs are completely different boats, with a different pump and a different engine. 11

Dan: There are 4 in my family and we all like to ride a lot!!!! I usually end up riding the Sea-Poo-my wife and daughters take the 1200's unless someting's broke. Looks like I'll be keeping them for a while, but I'll let you know when I get ready to sell.

Go with the 12/18,pump plug kit and Riva or R/D intake grate. I just installed these and it makes a noticable difference. Spend the time and seal the pump up well. The difference is like having a grunty car and having crappy BF Godrich tires and then changing to Pirelli P Zero's. I hope that makes sence.
