If I've said it once...I've said it a thousand times. When you jump waves and get a little sideways in the air...DO NOT LET GO OF THE HANDLE BARS! If you do, you could possibly break a leg or ankle... or bust your arse on the hull.<<< This one for me.
Man...you shoulda seen me. Dude! There I was...flying high, got a little sideways, did'nt correct and let go of the handlebars...OUCH!! Slammed my butt on the side of the hull and got bruises to prove it! Will post pics later
Nope, better not...Mario would get excited!! HA!!
Just thought I'd share...I'm sure noone else has busted, jumping waves. Mike

Couldn't agree more. It's amazing how stable and forgiving the boat is at uneven landings (as long as your grip is good A mate of mine in ireland went wave jumping in the atlantic (6ft + waves) and bailed out of a big jump. He landed by smacking the base of his spine against the nose of the ski. He spend months at physio after that. I am too scared to bail out now after seeing what happened to him.

Let's see the pics! Where are you at in Florida? There are a few of us on this forum that meet up to wave jump. Always looking for more wave jumpers...
I don't know how long my body can take the slamming around anymore. I've had stand ups and sit downs and I find the sit downs way harder on the body. especially when the boat lands sideways or when yor in the air and a wave clips the back of the hull pushing you nose into the water real quick. Like you say just hang on. And the constant hammering through the knees. Not to mention the sunburn!! Butit's summer - must keep pushing!! 2000 gpr

Yes I know this one well, 2 summers ago I had the misfortune to find the most beautiful Hurricane Floyd waves, they were perfect, and a set came that I couldn't pass up, that I didn't realize was how high I would get launched and how long my hangtime would be. Needles to say the second wave in the set found my boat's tail and well, just remembering makes me hurt, I'm sure you all get the idea

Speaking of storm. We went wave jumping Sunday and Monday. Needless to say my wife is on the couch in pain and I am taking Painkillers. We had some good air because of the tropical storm off the coast. We have the pics to prove it..I will post em when I get them scanned. 2 yami's and an Ultra.
I pulled my groin muscle when I landed sideway but as you all say...I held on. The XL is so big I would not want to try and push off and have 800+ pounds of ski land on me.
We are all sore but it is a good sore

I can say that I learned the hard way and am wearing the cast to prove it!!!!
I broke my foot July 28.
...had the best air of my short waverunning life.....so huge I got scared and let go of the handlebars on my 2002 XLT1200. BIG MISTAKE!!!
I broke the top of my foot and bruised my hip pretty bad..... Killed my summer. Now I feel like the Chicago Cubs and have to "wait till next year". I lose the cast on Sept. 18.
Mike, Yeah we're down south but we meet up in Daytona Beach (Ponce Inlet) to wave jump. The waves there never seem to disappoint us. Forum member JetED73 comes all the way from Tennessee (He's hard-core). We will probably meet up 5 or 6 times over the winter. We will post on the forum the weekends we go. Its a great time for all. If you can make it, I'll bring the camera!!! We will be in St. Augustine in two weeks for the Rally. If your interested email me.
To All Be carefull with the wave jumping. Went out on Lake Michigan wave jumping seven footers got some major air and came down into a trough and bottomed out just as the next wave crashed into my bow. I was standing and got slammed into the seat and compression fractured my spine. Beleive me it was a long ride back to the harbor and I spent two weeks on my back. Its been seven weeks now and I am jettin again but going easy on the jumping. Thinking of trading the gp for an fx to stay closer to the water.

Don't think the waves will make it south to West Palm Beach. I'm ready to jump some, again. I took a friend riding about 3 weeks ago when tropical storm Crystobal was in my area. He was on my 2000 GPR and I was on my 01 GPR. He capsized the 2000, the seat came off and it was almost submerged. I could'nt recover it until dawn the next day. What a job! I've pulled the engine, and the sand is packed everywhere.A lot of evenings cleaning, rinsing, lubricating. I'm just lucky to have it back. Found it 1/2 mile down the coast upside-down in the sand against the sea-wall. Could'nt believe there were no holes in the hull!!!
