Dude,
It's not funny. It was a shining example of what a parent SHOULD do.

yes, i agree that the kid deserved this and the dad did the right thing, but i can sympathize with the kid and if he is apolagetic and his behavior improves he should have a chance to get his ps2 back, it shouldnt be lost forever for 2 bad deeds

sorry moose..you are outranked and out experienced on this...Odds are, if a kid is drinking and lying about it at age 15, you have more on your plate to deal with than "when does he get to play PS2 again.."

we have all been there and done that, granted..like myself, not all of us have kids..I agree with Mark C, a lesson should be learned. I would tell him that he could have a PS again, 1 year from the date of the infraction and he would have to buy it himself.

now, all this is over a PS2..my dad was the same as you, excpet I didnt have a ski when I was a kid. BUt the first thing to go was my 14 foot alumacraft and johnson 9.9 outboard...just the thought of that was enough to keep me inline...well, at least keep me from getting caught! By the way. I had my CAR taken away from me at age 17, with a threat to sell... I lived at home, and had to abide by their rules. Bastages!
Big Grin
I'm sure it had something to do with coming home loopy drunk, walking in the door with my 3 drunk friends, as my mom was sitting on the couch staring us all down. Ohhhhhh, the wrath of that night.

Playstation! Pfffft! I feel for the kid, but he's got issues, and should not be taken lightly.

When I was 15 my dad didn't have to keep me in line because I WAS A GOOD KID! And when I did have parties when the folks were away I collected everybody's keys and locked up my mom's waterford and anything else that would suck hard to break. Watched everybody like a hawk, cleaned up messes as soon as they happened (constant rotation of towels from washer to carpet) and generally the house was cleaner after a party than before. I certainly had no fun at my own shindigs because I was protecting my parents property out of respect to them and what they worked hard to earn. Got good grades too. **** near perfect grades. I don't remember ever having my own jetski however. We weren't as well off as my parents' best friends who bought their son a Ski Centurion and when he found out that wasn't the best it was sold and they bought him a Ski Nautique. Roll Eyes

It doesn't take bribes to raise a good kid so just feel lucky material-wise that your dad isn't on to that fact and enjoy your ski. I hope your dad is a good dad beyond the material stuff.

yamajuan,
you were one of those kids that understood the real reasons for needing to be good, not just the black and white view of you want to be good or youll get punished like a lot of kids. I would say my dad is a good dad beyond the material items, as i dont take part in any activities like this kid did, and its not just because of the punishment i know i would receive, it used to be because of fear of punishment, but as ive gotten older i think the reason for obeying has changed a little bit. and i like to think of things like jet skis that kids have as more of a reward for being good and not leverage to be able to take away. and my jet ski was given to us for free so no, my dad did not just go out and buy me an expensive ski to make me behave

that kid's parents seem MORE than fair. the kid got what he deserved. he obviously had no respect for his parents. it's time he learned some!

too many parents will buy their kid out of trouble. glad to see they took the money from him (in a way that they could). now if the kid wants a new PS2, he'll have to work for it and maybe then he'll have more respect for things earned.

btw- LOVED how he rubbed his kids nose in it. kind of immature? but hey... i got a good laugh out of it!
