I am a fan of Yamiha-ha-ha but I would like to know about any new high-power (over 250 hp) outboards comming out...Anybody with connections or insider info would be awsome! I know about the new Yam. 300 HPDI but anything new?

If any of you guys have been in a BMW 330i 6-speed then you would agree, we need an engine with VANOS. It is an amaizing valve-timing system that allows a car with a tiny naturally asperated 3.0 L straight six 225 hp and 214 tq to pull much harder than a GTP that weighing almost the same with a supercharged 3.8 L V6 260 hp and 280 tq can.

VANOS could make a 225 Yam. 4-stroke pull more then thier own 250 EFI 2-stroke. This isnt simply a German version of V-TECH. It makes more torque then the DoughBoy does muffins. I think Yam. could darn near corner the market with this technology. A market that needs and demands low and mid-range torque.

Dude the 330 is 3.0 for 230 hps, my (stock) 2002 M3 is 3.2 for 342 hps.
Vanos rules.

I used the 3.0 litre 330 and the pontiac GTP supercharged 3.8 litre to show that the 330 has less HP but pulls much harder because of Vanos.

Without Vanos, a 3.2 litre N.A. six could not make 342 hp.

The big problem with marine engines [compared to car engines]is that marine engines are designed to run at 80% power continiusly and most car engines only turn out 15-20% power continious. Our GA aircraft engines can turn 100% HP for a one minute max. and then they have to reduce to a 75% max [these are twice the price of an car engine].
My Merc Tech explained how after an engine failure, consumers would buy an automotive GM crankshaft an rods to rebuild a Mercruiser drive. They bring the engines to him after a couple of hours when they have failed.
He explains to them that marine duty is like driving your car at 3500 rpm up a 15% incline continiously in third gear....

Well actually yes, it could, but it would have awful low end and idle at 2500 rpms...
