Pelicans !
Did'nt even see it coming. I was lucky It was'nt a direct hit. Felt really bad for the bird flaping in the water. Wear your helment! |

Sea-Ya I hate to bring this up again but in 2001 a top tunner lost his life after hitting a large bird and being knock while testing a ski.
That incident got me paranoid since where I rode then was frequent by pelicans and ducks. I hit a dragon fly at 40 MPH riding my cruiser it got me an inch below my eye. my face swelled up, I can only imagine a large bird I ALWAYS WEAR A HELMET |

I feel naked without my helmet. I too wear full gear when riding.

Even with a helmet, a direct hit from a large duck or pelican at high speeds will probably knock you off the ski and maybe unconscious. These birds can easily weigh in over 10lbs.
Thats like being hit with a bowling ball. Going 60+mph .bad news. Always go out with another buddy on another ski, and stay together, so help is quickly available. Never ride alone. It will not take long, face down in the water before a tragedy happens. Just my opinion. |

I know you should wear a helmet but i've taken two nasty falls on my GPR, one at 65+ and one at 73+ MPH and i feel that when i hit the water that if i had been wearing a helmet i probably would have broken my neck. Wearing a helmet is a double edge sword. Just my point of view.

amoney, where do you find these video clips?
That first one is sick |

geeze, what were you guys doing to get thrown going 60+mph?
You really shouldn't get thrown if you're not horsing around or know how to read the water. I'm not saying that I don't know how to have fun, but there is a time and a place for everything. Of course I've had my spills, but most were only when I lost my balance during some heavy wavejumping. just be safe out on the water, there are too many idots with boats these days that don't give a flip about pwc's [ 01-10-2003: Message edited by: Slim Pickens ] |
