I know this is the Yamaha board but I've grown to respect you guys! I thought someone may have some knowledge about the Polaris Pro 785 pump. My son has basically destroyed his stock 6 vein pump, I understand this is problem with these boats. He needs to replace pump and impeller and is looking for the right combo. His engine is basically stock with reeds, a waterbox, and intake grate mods. He basically hot rods around on the like but may get into closed course racing, any suggestions?

Voodoo, A friend of mine here in Austin, has his own shop and has been racing a pro-785 for the last few years in the expert class, 3rd place 2000 world finals, sucked up a rock at the start this past year. I will tell him that you need some advice on your boat and see if he can tell you what you want to know. Joe will give straight forward and no bs info. rpfossil

12 Vien skat with swirl will give best hook up, with possible loss of top end (.5mph). The other prop to consider would be the 12 vien with a "slimline" prop. I have a bare 12 or 6 for sale, if you need it.

best regards,
Mark

With the mods you've mod to the motor, which ain't much, you are most likely best off with a stock 6 vane ss pump and a skat trak 12/17. Buy the prop from skat, not polaris. The polaris version of that prop has the back of the blades relieved for rock clrearance at the stator vanes and isn't as efficient as the skat 12/17.

I agree with Wet Wolf, go with the stock set up and the Skat 12/17 long blade.
