j-me and i went to atlantic city boat show over the weekend. on the way there we were behind a pick-up with a ski in the bed. it was a yamaha 800 TZ. have anyone ever seen one of these? i've never heard of it. it looked very odd.

TZ-was prefix lettering designating roadrace motorcycles in the early to mid 70's.That is odd unless it was an old roadracer that put TZ-porting specs on his ski,and\or put on cloned stripes & lettering from that era.Was it yellow with 2 inch black stripes?

this thing appeared to look very very new. not more than 3 or so years old. very well taken care of. it did have some stickers/decals that were japanese. maybe it was imported? any other comments

The bottom of the hull was radically different from what I have ever seen. It almost had a keel due to a front to rear semi circular "relief" on either side of the hull centerline. This pattern also transitioned into the ride plate.

It is the waveblaster that never made it here. I think they came out in Japan in 1998.

Some guy had two of them on eBay about 2-3 weeks ago. They were fully built he was asking around $4500 for each I think.

They are slow & handle poorly, the one on ebay was at the world finals & had twin pipes & everything else you could think of,it got smoked by HXs & Blaster 1s.

The ski your talking about is a European Blaster 800. They have been over here for sometime, but I dont believe they were sold overhere in the USA.
The 800 that I know of that was raced at the World Finals got beat because it had some motor problems. This is what happens when you custom make some pipes and other stuff for a ski like this one. Larger and more stable than a Blaster and a bit faster.
