I'm a little supprised that no one has had any comments or discussions about the on going olympics. I always thought more people supported our athletes.

The only exception to being proud of the way our athletes have been performing has got to be the mens basketball team. How a team chosen from pro players can loose to team that has none on it is mind bogging.

I believe he was 5 lbs. overweight at weigh-in time. Either he used the Israeli excuse to cover up for being out of shape, or he gained the weight because he knew he wouldn't fight the Israeli.

How about the mens 800 free style? That was as exciting as it gets. And again the mens basketball team eaks by Greece 77 to 71. I just can't understand what is going on.

I'd have to say the mens 4 x 200 relay was the most exciting outcome. You talk about close. Less than 3/10th of a second margin! Eek Total team effort!!!!!

think that pr was a little intimidated by marbury?

btw, someone enlighten me...how does a guy like marbury who has some 9 years of pro experience get in the olympics?? retire from the pros first? i thought "pro" athletes where banned from playing??? considering he was playing pro this year...im curious to hear how they did it...did the rules change?

I can tell you why a team like Puerto Rico can beat team USA. Because team USA doesn't play as a team, they are a bunch of NBA thugs who think they are there to showcase their individual talents. I gave up watching the NBA years ago because it reminded me of backyard hoops rather than organized professional sports.
Alan Iverson is the one who best portrays the "new school" of NBA players, he's just one step away from hard time at the big house.
A well coached and disciplined team with no superstars can beat a team full of superstars.

PWC racing should be in the olympics, but everyone should be on an equal boat. Or a totaly stock boat. Stand ups would be fun to watch!

There seems to be too many drug scandals and questionable judging, which has tarnished this years olympics IMO. Anyone see russian gymnast Alexei Nemov got robbed by the judges last night for an incredible display on the high bar? And the korean guy who was marked from 9.9 while the rest of the competitors were marked from the 10.0

Another great race, the 400 meters an American sweep lead by Wariner. In case nobody noticed, he is a white American and that hasn't happened (gold medal in track) but only once before in the last 40 yrs. This was even more impressive because it came in sprint event. Truly a rare event. rp

Well, 400 is a sprint...technically. But the 100 is usually characterized as the premier event for sprint.

I don't deny that the 100 meters is the premier event of the sprints. But one still has to be amazed by Wariners winning the 400, and he did it with ease. When was the last time a white American sprinter won a gold medal? rp

Well, for the first time since 1988, the gold medal will not go to the Americans in Basketball. Argentina beat them. I think the best they can do now is a Bronze.
The Argentines were the better passers, shooters and defenders. They confronted the Americans with a mixture of man-to-man and zone defenses, and confounded them with an assortment of back picks that turned the start of the second half into a layup drill.
