Overall I like it.
I love the muscle car era and the coke bottle design . Not sure about the wheel arches but the rest is cool . I loved the 70 Mach 1 and this thing is it.

However , build quality is something that can make this an average car.
Lets face it , 1 inch gaps and missaligned panels are an everyday thing from the "big 3" so if Ford can solve those problems this car can be a legend.

The GT is a remake of the GT40, the new Mustang is a remake of the old Mustang, I think it's too bad they have to ditch everything they have been doing for the last 40 years to get back to the original design because they are unable to come up with something completely new AND cool.

SVT took 2 years off to adjust to the new Cars/trucks. I am thinking about buying a 05 stang. I love the car, looks mean as heck. Only thing that is holding me back is the 06 Lightning that is hopefully gonna kick some major tail.

the 06 stang might be a better buy just with bugs and new car designs.....I like to wait till the next year so they resolve problems even though it doesnt always work that way.

The 06 is supposed to be better with more options to...from some sources butwe will see...

I think the '05 Stang is a major homerun for Ford (they sure needed it). The looks are right on and the interior is finally acceptable. 300HP is sufficient and the 4.6 has proven to be a good motor for modding.
Perhaps even more exciting, Ford showed the new Shelby Cobra at the Detriot Auto Show. It looks like the offspring of an original Shelby Cobra roadster and the '05 Mustang. Expected to sell for between $70,000-$80,000 if it goes into production (which looks likely).

Being lucky enough to be part of the new mustang "launch", i can say with reasonable confidence that fit and finish on the new breed of Mustangs has been resolved. (referring to the door fender gaps a fellow member noted). I think the most impressive attribute to the new Mustang is the rigid "chassis", The Fox,SN95 Mustangs seemed to lack. So now blower mods and other motorworks wont be a body flex concern. These thing are being built like a Ford truck. Now if they can get the rest of the car lineup in order. Cool

I have grown to like the new Mustang. At first I thought Ford took the retro theme a little too far, but it does seem to have a nice balance after seeing the production car.

If I hadn't just bought a new one I would prolly consider getting the 05. Instead I'm going to wait and see the 06 Cobra or, better yet, a possible 06/07 Shelby.

I'm really droolin over that new mustang. I'm thinkin about getting rid of the SUV for it... BUT... would a mustang be a dumb choice for hauling around a single waverunner?? The ramp I use 90% of the time is a very shallow decline and brick.

Atleast we all agree on Jet skis Smile It's still a FORD and at 3800lbs can't be a serious contender for anything. Even the 03 Cobras can't cut the cheese.

i tend to agree with 11 ( a lot lately). i think its a little shocking to see an 05 auto with remarking resemblances to autos of the 60's. why cant they get inventive and creative? why try to reinvent the wheel? to be honest i look at the 05 stang and it just brings back memories of moms 68 hulk green inline 6 stang.... now on the other hand, look out for the vette zo6....

Well guess what! The new 03 Cobra has been dynoed at 737hp and 717 lbs tq AT THE WHEELS without taking off a valve cover!! Look in the new 5.0 magazine. Its a turbo charged Cobra. The have also done dyno runs with a Kenny Bell Blowzilla blower with a huge pulley and hit over 950 hp at the crank! Eek Believe me,they CAN cut it. My current 2 valve 99 GT show car is blown with a stock bottom end holding 12psi making 440hp and 400 lbs tq at the wheels. Big Grin

I just hope I don't ever have to line up behind some kid modded to put out that kind of power. What's the reputation on the ford block?

You understand those cars aren't daily drivers though! Can't wait to see the blow by on those suckers after 5000mi. Do you think they'll make it to 5000 miles? Or will they be the first sources of 03 Cobra parts at Pik-N-Pull?

I do understand how proud of that engine you guys must be though. With just a few simple mods and putting down 400-450rwhp is an acheivemnt from camp FORD.

I have a younger neighbor that bolted a B&M on his 66/289 stang to show me he could go deep 11's. He Did do it, but his car allways came home on the trailer. The blower was geared up so high that it had to be rebuilt every other run! The motor let go (popped) after about 6-8 runs and 50 street miles.

I was not around for the muscle car era,but envy those who were. The good news is I believe we are entering a new modern muscle era. With the HEMI going into the Grand cherokee, and the soon to be magnum car,the chrysler 300m,and don't forget the HOT GTO,and now ford's new but retro Mustang I think it is going to be quite interesting.Although nothing will beat the 60's,these are sure to be some exciting times.Only drawback I see is that #$%^ing cars are sooo expensive nowadys.I am not sure how you rich guys do it...
