when charging a weak battery ,does it make a difference if it's a steady low charge ,lets say for 8-10 hrs straight , or better to charge it for 2 hrs turn if off for a few then 2 hrs more etc?

my experience has been once a weak battery always a weak battery.

unless its a recent newer battery dont depend upon it.

its always best to trickle charge... untill its full, dont stop cahrging.

not recommended esp for a weak battery to due a quick high amp charge.

I agree with your views on charging regular batteries.
Get this, I just got an odyssey battery for my gpr and in the directions it says to charge at 10 amps for 2 hours and specifies not to use a trickle charger. Kind of goes against every thing I thought I knew about batteries.

It came from Riva and had a production date of 7/02 and had a full charge on it 12.85 volts. I thought that was pretty good for a 6-7 month old battery (sealed in box) to hold its charge that long.

I guess live and learn. I would like to find out more on what makes the odyssey battery tick

I stand corrected then... definetly go with what the instructions tell you... guess Im going by old info, perhaps Odyssey uses better battery acids ...??? or whatever.

Ive purchased the RIVA battery and have had good results as well... as long as they are no maintanince and sealed is all I care.

amoney, You don't need to be corrected your right.

I was just bringing up a point of possible interest about a different type of battery and seeing if anyone knows what makes the odyssey battery different.
The odyssey battery is the only motorcycle, pwc type battery I have charged that recommends a regular charger at 10 amps.

Hey Fred I believe when I was talking to Fercho a month or 2 ago he mentioned that to me about the Odyssey's and also that there was a special trickle charger that Deltran made for that specific battery.. You might want to ask him about it..
