Wondering if there are any riders out there on the new 4Tec from Sea Doo

I would love to hear some feedback before I get one.

Thaks for your ignorance Suzan, I didn't have to show my card at the door.

If you don't have any input, don't post a response

Phil, if you don't want the truth about that thing you better go to seapoo.com, that is where the ignorance shows it's true colors, not in Suzan's reponse.

Phil,
I agree with Suzan and probably 99% of the members in here. You come into a Yamaha and Honda forum to ask a question on one of Riva's major competitors. What kind of response were you hoping to get? And then slamming Suzan and calling her ignorant? Suzan is a very highly respected, loved and Riva Sponsered member. I think you owe her an apology because all she was doing was warning you that there are other members in here who would not have been as nice.

I disagree with any ill-intent to any sea-doo posters

Many of us have been on multiple skis, raced em, beat on them, borrowed them and had a good time on all of them.

Would you shun someone in the water who rode a sea-doo? I don't

I am intrigued by the new 4strokes, can't wait to ride them all, as for kissin up to anyone because they ride a certain ski, no thanks

I agree with you about the ill intent JetSki, but I must side with Suz on this one. This is a dedicated forum for Yamaha and Honda users, not really a place to ask about another brand at all.The comment made by Phil surelly had ill intent and the choice of words was truly unecessary as Suzan responded civilly. No need to apologyze Phil, just go away.

I rode one at the Sebastian Rally, it was really nice.
As for the "Lady" who responded, just consider the source.

PS, I also rode the new Yamaha FX-140 as well, it was nice too.

Ride em all, have fun !

Has anyone ridden the Honda or Yamaha 4-strokes? Just looking for some insight on the new 4-strokes too. I like them both, but don't understand why nobody has a closed loop cooling system. Also, does anyone see any issues with the turbo on salt water? Any info would help.

Do a search on 4-strokes, I remember someone posting top speeds on the FX-140, Sea-Doo 4-Tec and the 2 new Hondas. None of them broke the 60 mph mark wich is dissapointing, especially for the turbo-charged Honda. Personally I think my next ski would be the Kawi STX-R

To all, including SuzanGPR:

O.K.
Sorry I stirred things up, Didn't mean to offend anyone or SuzanGPR. Maybe I read into it too much, I am a very friendly person, no harm meant to anyone

But I responded or reacted in such a way since it was the first, immediate response and certainly not taken, by me, as helpful nor friendly to a new poster on their board. I read into it and thought of it as a "Go to **** " type response.
Seems now it was a neutral one. Info is all I seek, I drained all I could already off the Sea-Doo.net folks and thought there might be some fresh or untapped views on this PWC on this board. We are all brothers and sisters in this playground. I ride all makes

Hopefully we all learned a lesson ...

Be more tolerant of others
Think before you react
Fully explain what you mean so we do not read into threads negatively
We are all equals
We have all discovered a great sport and past-time

PEACE , Phil

Phil -

The latest edition of Watercraft World did a full comparison of all the 4-strokes. They had all the performance statistics as well as more subjective commentary on the units. They felt each one had a unique personality and would appeal to different types. The 4-Tec was more of a grand touring machine. The FX-140 was an aggressive 3 seater. The Honda Turbo was closer to a 2 seater (didn't seat 3 as comfortably) but had a "different feel" about the handling. The non-Turbo fell by the wayside as everyone felt the turbo was worth the extra $1K. It would be worth finding a copy and looking it over as I haven't seen too many actual riding experience posts on any of the the 4-strokes anywhere.

Morning all!
Phil, thanks for explaining your thoughts. Guess that's why I jumped over to the dark side for a sec to clarify my intentions of my post. There were never any ill fellings meant by me. Glad to see we're all just PWC riders with a different choice of manufacturers. But as always...I remain blue!! Hope you have a great season and get the answers you're looking for! Smile

My guess on the closed loop issue , would be (besides the additional cost)a greater amount of weight and limited space for a heat exchanger.Plus a pumping system for the fresh water would be needed.

I'm also not to sure we will be seeing many 4 cycles flying by us, not for a while any way.

Just a question, but maybe the closed loop system in a watercraft ride plate was patented and so others couldn't use it unless they licensed it?

The turbo question is interesting . . keeping spray/water out of it is important. How the turbo motor will react with a water ingestion problem is anybody's guess. I'd be surprised if they didn't force some in during testing, though.

If they use water for cooling/intercooling, then only the passages and metals used would be issues . . as they are in the rest of the motor already.
