Phil,
YOu all right, dude.

But actually i can't tell you about the bug. I read it somewhere..someone was asking the group if they knew anything of a supposed "bug" in the 4tec software( cdi?.dont know)...

didn't stick around to check out the responses.

I know the 4tec has a good feature for the novice rider or "borrower" that the others don't have..if you lose power you can still steer the thing .

goto pwctoday.com and click on newsgroups and goto the rec.sport.jetski link and ask in there..lots of good info in there.

good luck!
Dave

I would love to remain open about all types of ski and brands such the seadoo. Yamaha fan here but I am still interested in what seadoo has to offer and would like to hear about the opinions that others have to say. I understand that everyone in this forum is an advocate of yamaha and honda products, but that doesnt entitle them to shun at others from different prospectives. This forum, in my belief, is for everyone that is enthused with skis' and for that reason I do not want to close off and shut anyone that has an interest for a voice here at riva. I believe I have the right to reply to my dear pro yamaha and honda friends to be more open. Although, I believe no single individual here has the right to tell anyone to do anything but respect. I would like to have my right as a member, in the community, to be able to read about various intelligent opinions maturely. Thank you all.

To be considered a pwc and start talking about performance, a ski has to work. Sea Doos don't work as a pwc should, Bombardier doesn't make pwcs, Bombardier shouldn't be allowed to sell products that take people on the water without behing sure the thing will make it back to the launch, which is a real danger on the ocean.
Sea Doo is a lame company with lame designers, lame executives and lame customer service.
I don't deal with crook who sell junks to make money on the customers and put the blame on them for any problem instead of admiting their products have design flaws.
Now it's a PWC user forum and here you'll hear the truth about Sea Doos, keep asking about them, you'll see that only sea doo's reliability is questionned on this Yamaha/Honda forum, not Kawasaki's or Polaris'.
Don't you guys here somewhat need a more Sea Doos on the water? I can get it, as life would be a BXtch if every schmuck had a triple piped 1200 We wouldn't have much to smoke or to tow...

the only real problem i've heard about the 4tec is that the opas slows people down.I have a few friends who have them but i would have expected the 4 stroke to be faster outta the hole. Also on the comments about this is a yamaha and honda board what do u expect.Well if were lookin at a stx-r reading the s board could convince u to buy one.o wait it is a kawasaki, so it can't be talked about yet it is constantly talked about.

The whole first batch of hulls shipped to Europe delaminated. the OPAS gets stuck, "owners shouldn't ride in shallow water" (very Doo like statement).
Now about the 7 4tecs I saw at this local dealership, the dealer told me "recall for OPAS system".
Then why three triple cylinder engines where torn up on the floor???

Hi Mini!
I agree with you. I have seen Kawis and Pols discussed in this General Section and I see nothing wrong with it. As I explained in my post earlier this year, everyone is entitled to their own opinion about the different manufacturer and models. And I personally think there is a market for Sea-doo or they would not still be in business. It just makes sense. I just wanted whomever was reading this to realize that most answers will be Yamaha and Honda biased due to the nature of the site. It's just too bad that some with no "personal experience" with some machines tend to come in and jump on the bandwagon with no true experience or knowledge. I keep my posts to what I have first hand knowledge of, or general posts about riding, racing, etc. I for one, have not ridden any of the new four strokes on the market, so you'll get nothing out of me on this topic. Hope that those that participate in this thread keep it civil and remember that it's just people's different opinions and everyone is entitled to their own. Keep it nice guys/gals! Big Grin

Hope everyone has a great season, well what is left of it!! Ride safe and stay wet! Big Grin

Ok, up front I'll let you know that I'm picking up a 4-tec next week. I might have bought a Honda, but it's a 8 to 9 hundred miles to the closest dealer...

There's a Two dollar fix for the OPAS which raises it, and makes it a non-issue under power, and it still works off power. There might even be a slight increase in speed due less drag.

I've never heard of the "bug" or a recall, but I expect one for the OPAS.

What I don't understand is why nobody is talking about the HONDA recall for a sticking throttle???
I've heard that can't even sell them anymore until it's fixed.

Unless you own a 4-tec, I don't know that you are in a position to complain about one and make judgements.

What has been written on the Doo board is B/S;
They have peed of joy in their pants learning Honda was recalling the F12/F12X
Now the Honda recall is a proof it's a serious company, and they want everything perfect, the recall is something like one hour of labor, of course offered by Honda.
NOTHING to compare with Sea Doo recalls that are here only to avoid getting sued after major problems, failures and accidents.
Now Tom, don't need to own one, I've seen enough of those Doo junks blowing and their owners whining while I was towing them to stay away from them. Witnessing major hull and engine failures on the 4tec isn't a surprise, the fact I'm not the only one isn't a surprise either, everything's just as usual.
Mcurrens, Sea Doo makes cheap recalls (OPAS) to look like the serious company they've never been and blame the customers for blown engines, like owner's mistake explaining a 3000$ engine repair Sead Doo will never pay for...
Good luck.
Check out www.seadoosucks.com
There's no Yamahasucks.com or Hondasucks.com, guess why?

Aren't there like 40,000 seadoo's to every one Honda?
So I guess you would see more seadoo's in the shop.

I think the ratio of sea-doo's to Yamaha's is probably pretty high also.

The reason I stayed away from Yamaha are numerous,

1)When I was a kid, out of all my friends, the yamaha's were the only dirt bikes always in the shop.
2) I hate the styling, especially the earlier ones.

3) I can't stand the stupid squirty thing out the back. Why don't they just put one of those stupid white poles with on orange flag on it.

4) Everytime I've rented a sit-down, it's been a Yamaha, and they were slow and unmanuverable. (I realise that they don't rent the good ones.)
5) Where the **** is the dealer? All the Yamaha Motor Cycle dealers around here sell Sea-doo's or Kawasaki's.

I'm not sure about Seadoosucks.com, but I'm sure there's a 11sucks.com.
