I currently have a 1991 Suzuki V6 200HP Outboard (Carburetor) with a faulty Ignition Control Unit and CDI.
The best price I got was more than I paid for the whole motor and I need to look at alternatives. I do however have a CDI Unit and Ignition Control and Rectifier for a 150HP Yamaha V6 (Basic, not ECU) Could you please let me know if it would be possible to install this on my motor, since the inputs seem to be the same and I may just have to work out which trigger coil triggers which cylinder. (I'll keep my Suzuki Rectifier though). I do understand that designs differ, but the basic rules still do apply and are "copied" from manufacturer to manufacturer. My Suzuki also has 3 Trigger Coils on the Stator (120 degrees apart) probably running wasted spark, and then it also has extra Temp Sensor, Throttle Position Sensor and another Fly/Crankwheel Gear Counter/Pulser Coil. The Yamaha CDI unit I have however only has input for 3 trigger coils, so it should be able to run. I don't require any special monitoring or "fancy" electronic circuitry, since all I desperately need is spark. Temperature etc is already being monitored from the dashboard. The motor also won't run more than about 3000-4000 RPM. My problem is that I have family coming down for a fishing trip and I need to have the Outboard running within the next 3 days. |
