Is it just me, or are there WAY too many STUPID people riding ski's lately?

This past weekend I was out on Lake Michigan at the beach by the launch taking a break from riding...

Here's a few of the things that I saw:
(Take into consideration, the launch is right into the lake, and EVERYONE that goes there knows that theres a bunch of sandbars before getting out to deeper water)

1. Guy starts ski on trailer (before putting into water). Then lets it run for what seemed close to 5 MINUTES! before backing it into the water WHILE RUNNING on the trailer.

2. Guy fills up his ski at the launch with QUAKERSTATE OIL!

3. Girl lets her younger brother drive right out of the launch... he gets stuck on sandbar... instead of shutting off... he revs and revs and revs... water and sand everywhere. (finally sister gets over and pulls the lanyard)

4. Three standup dorks with all sorts of "sponsor stickers" on their skis come flying close to WOT up past the no-wake zone... through people wading/swimming in the water... up onto the beach about 10 feet past the waterline...

5. Guy with a full wetsuit in 98 degree weather w/ water temp of 78 (ok, that one isnt a BIG deal... just kinda "odd" to me... lol)

... Oh, and I did get to see my first ski on fire... it was an Ultra 150... engine fire... got put out pretty quick as the 2 guys started paddling water into it.

Has it gotten to the point that these "ding dongs" are going to tarnish our fun by being stupid?

Ok, my rant is over...

its not just the jetskiers, if you ever get bored at the lake or riding area, just hang out at the boat lauch for about an hour...its the funniest thing, better then watching comedy central....

The thing is that we all need a license and the ability to show that we can drive a car, anybody can go by a boat or PWC and take it to the water without being tested on wether or not they have that ability. There arent even any place you can go and learn all there is to learn about ramp etiquet or how to operate the craft, not that i know of any place..I know in some states require a boaters license which you can take online, but they still dont have a driving test or common sense test, which alot of boaters/jetskiers need. in my area its starting to become a real popular thing to do on the weekends, for the past month i think i have seen the fire department/abulance at the boat ramp maybe 8 times becuase of accidents....DUH...thats why im off the water by noon most of the time.

Red,

What beach did you say you boat at? It sounds like Miller Beach.

A source of constant amusement in my area:

ride down to one of the local boat ramps (that is perfectly placed at a RV campground and Bar). It's a nice ramp with pretty good prices and also everybody (boaters) like the fact that beer and ice is so easy to come across...

Anyways ride down there on the skis about 6:00 when everybody starts packing it in for the day. Lots of drunks, lots of testosterone, lots of horsepower, lots of big boats and even bigger tucks...you start to do the math...

It's a comedy club, a boxing ring, a monster truck show, an offshore power boat race and a really awesome reality show where all the contestants hate each other all compiled into one big free evening matinee...

And it's even puncuated by breaks between the acts (when the local sheriff water units and game wardens pass through)...The it all starts back up again...

It's how I like to pass the time before the river clears and you can start doing some high speed runs on glassy water...

Nevermind: Lake Street outta Gary. Its not really called Miller - but im sure its the same one that you're talking about. You should drop in out there sometime... im usually there every weekend either Sat or Sun. My GPR is pretty easy to spot... Its got a cartoon "rabid fish" decal on the back.

Yeah, its a fun show to watch.
Especially when these guys in their Lincoln Navigators and Escalades w/ "spinners" drop in 2 RXP's... and then take off like dumb@sses right in the no wake zone (which just so happens to be sandbar haven) and get stuck while shooting "sand roosters" all over...

2 weeks later they have brand new ones (cause the motors blew) - go figure.

I dunno... I guess the whole thing just freakin blows my mind at how some of us can take such good care of things... and others (which im starting to see are spoiled rotten - mommy and daddy are buying them all their toys) are too stupid to realize any better.

(Wow, im really On Rant today... sorry)

I'll have to ride out there one weekend. I have a slip at Hammond, but I'm not too far from the launch ramp and it makes for great drinking entertainment. Especally the guys who drop their boat/ski on the ramp. (right Fercho?)

It cool red , I was at the ramp the other day waiting to dump and there was a lady trying to get her boat out of the water . It took her 25min to get the boat on the trailer ,10 min to hook boat up and 15min to get the trailer out of the water. Instead of pulling all the way out she pulls up just a little and jumps out of her car to have everyone tell her ,she did A good job and it was her first time Red Face Every ones face was like move dummy.then took 15 min to get ready to leave I was wondering if she was going to wash it on the ramp too
