Waterbum, I'm sure they may have something similar if not the same as this.

That is one type that is very convenient and somewhat inexpensive. We use a more precise method. A hydraulic engine dynometer made by Huff Technologies with DEPAC software.

We remove the engine and electrical system from the craft and mount it to a fixture. There is a planetary gear drive with a coupler like that in a PWC which transmits power. Behind the drive is a gear-type pump where the torque is registered.

The Dyno operator sits just outside the Dyno room where all the controls and output sensors are located.

We utilize detonation sensors, A/F ratio sensors as well as fuel and air flow meters. Our Dyno room has a controlled environment. The air temp, water temp and fuel temp are constant.

This is the most precise method to Dyno test an engine. It's a very involved and time consuming process to go from the craft to the Dyno and back to the craft again. This is why we don't offer Dyno testing as a service. However, the engine is very easy to work on while on the Dyno saving us time when testing multiple packages and performance products.

Ya it is a cool setup Spud

TJ did a good job setting it up

If you look real close at the window in the dyno room you can see a faint reflection.... of the one that spent many hours at those controls Frown

Rumor has it the dyno company came out recently to give a crash 2 day course to the new dyno room operators. Confused I wonder if the new dyno operator passed his crash course and got a dyno degree, magna cum laude? Big Grin

There was more than one person involved in setting up our Dyno as well as operating it. Our Performance Development Team is plenty capable of operating this complicated piece of test equipment. Wink

Nice pics and writeup. You should take this forum stuff and put it in your watercraft section on your webpage.
