Not a fan of that area.Too many water cops and slow speed zones.
10000 island runs are fun but you do need local knowlege if you want to avoid getting stuck or lost.
Key Wayden is a place where everyone hangs out and on the weekends the place is usualy packed but don't speed in the intercoastal as the cops will be waiting.

I live in the area but I go to Lovers Key(Estero Bay) to ride. Cool mangrove rides and the Lee county cops are more relaxed.

Thanks for the info. Where is Key Wayden? I looked at a online nautical chart, but couldn't find it.

I've been wanting to venture into the 10,000 islands for a long time. I'll be taking a gps (and spare batteries), cell phone, and VHF.

Are there speed limits posted - or is it something you're just supposed to know??

Thanks again

Key Wayden(Little Marco Pass) is just north of Marco Isl. headind towards Naples.
It's a sand bar that seperates the Intercoastal from the Gulf and is a place where locals hang out on and party. Boats park on the intercoastal side where it's calm plus it's a No Wake Zone.
The 10,000 islands are south of Marco Isl. Speed is 25mph in the chanel with the rest being all slow speed. Watch out for the tides as it can get shallow just beyond the markers and after a while all the islands start to look alike. Don't get lost.
You can get free maps of the area at all the local Gov. places that have most of the speed zones on them but they do change depending on the time of day.
Most inportant of all is that you slow down before you get to the No Wake Zones and dont speed back up untill you are well out of them.
The "Man" will be watching.
