Just a short note to let everyone know how the race was...

Some info first: The 2 hour race is stop one of the Kawi Japan endurance series. Sponsored by Kawi but all makes can enter. Course was huge compared to what I'm used to - about 3 miles long. The pit penalty route added another 1/2 mile. There was no swells or waves at all, some small wind chop but most of the "rough" water was created by the wakes of 56 skis on the course. Considering the race was on the ocean, conditions were pretty much ideal. I'll post a picture when I get back home in a couple of days.

We rode a near stock gpr with a skat pump, stock ride plate, riva grate, r&d trim tabs, advent cdi, C-plate & rejetted carbs, and riva pro series drop nozzle.

We did 3 rider change/gas fills , and finished with 30 laps - 3 behind the number one team. We ended up in 11th place over all, but were the top GPR.

Number one was an STX-15F with 33 laps. Number 2 was an STX-15F with 32 laps.

The 3rd place ski was an RXP - the only one entered. They actually had more laps than the 1st place team, but were penalized for going through the "slow" zone too fast. The RXP was the fastest ski out there, easily passing our GPR on the first lap. The owner did say it was a handfull though so I'm not sure how it was be on a rougher course. One definite positve though as the motor held up fine despite being pegged most of the race. One negative was it had to pit more than the 15Fs to add gas.

We finished in 11th place. Not bad, but we could have done better if we had been able to do faster pits.

The local Yami dealer finished a lap ahead of us on a FX HO - they only pitted one time to put 2 gallons of gas in, and change riders. I rode it a few days earlier - it is a good ski...

It was kinda cool at the end of the race hear a bunch of skis with their warning buzzers going off - mostly gas warnings...some of these guys stretched it out to the max and it helped them out.

IMO - the best ski out there was the RXP. The 1st two teams were on 15Fs, but they were very good riders too...this race is supposed to be a "stock" class race but they don't really do any inspections other than noise levels...I know the RXP was stock except for worx sponsons and a umi steering system. Not sure about the 15Fs...

Lots of fun - a winter of snowboarding and then riding 3x the week before the race does not prep you for an endurance race. Riding season has started up north for us so we'll see how the rest of the season goes after I get home...

Anyway...just wanted to pass this info on...

Enjoy all,

Ray

56 skis Mario - all did finish too. No accidents, no broken skis or bones - just lots of sunburn. I'm looking forward to spending a full season on my skis and racing again.

I jus wish I was 20 again instead of 43...

Ray, please stop crying about your age ok??? i am 44 and still feel like a teenager, the word PAIN is not in my vocabulary Wink you just need to eat well (avoid the junk food like the french fries, cheese burgers, hot dogs, soft drinks etc..) sleep well and go to your local gym to increase the strength of your upper body and be happy Smile take care, Raymond

Here are the pics I promised.

The first one is of the RXP

The second one is of our GPR passing through the "go slow so they can read your number lane"

This next one is a close up of the GPR

My friend and his UMI steered/worx sponson'd RXP the day before the race:

This one is of the RXP in the lead, with the 15F trailing...the RXP has left the go slow lane, and the 15F is about 40 yards from it. The white water in the back ground is skis coming off the back straight heading for a bouy before heading in the direction of the 15F:

This last one is a close up of a 15F:

take care and

Thanks Mark,

Anyone else not see the pics? I have them hosted at Yahoo Photos. Maybe I need to contact them and ask why...or find a new host.

Ray good report on the race and plate. As for the pics you can not use the Yahoo service to host pics and post them somewhere else for others to see. You might be better off just posting the url so people go to that website.

If you want send me the pics and I will host them. I will then send you the url and you can post which ever ones you want.. If you want send them to racer110@extremeteamracing.com.

Here are the pics for Ray. I will try to put them in the order that he had them listed above..

Ray just looking at these pics makes me want to get back out onto the water rather than part out my boats like I have wanted ot do now for the past couple of months. Hopefully with the warm weather coming I will get my blood flowing again and get these boats done rather than thinking about when it is going to snow for next season to get these snowmobiles back out on the trails.
