first, it was great meeting everyone today.

second, i should appoligize for my "wrenching" today. It was an interesting day for myself...but i would have liked to speak to you all some more....

@ 5 am i left my house....while driving down i 80 @ 75 i realize i am getting a flat tire on the trailer. of course, i have NO spare. i call need4pwr and he drives 45 minutes out of the way to help...this is 5:15 btw.....

at 7:30 we find a home depot that has a tire rim combo in stock....by 8:30 or so we are on our way to the shore.

i had hoped to get down there by 6:30 because i knew i was going to have to re-jet. well, the short of the long story....i wne out and did a few runs in some good water. bottom end was very fat (on going carb saga and piston mod issue). so after a re-jet on the pilot we went out to run. after a few passes i realized the carb issue was no better, did a plug chop at 1/4 and 3/8 throttle and the crowns had excessive wash. so i figured it was still fat...wouldnt you?

next is the where it gets interesting...riding across the bay to go to radar location @ 1/2 throttle i have a mild lean seizure.

my day was done. i went back to the ramp and tore the motor down to the case to see what happened. as i said earliear...pistons where washed out and three had a 4 point seizure. just to ad another "oddity" i run 3 a jet size richer then 1 & 2......and 3 fails.

i know some of what the others ran, but wouldnt want to commment as i wasnt present at that time....

i will say, 81+ single pipers are becoming more and more prevelent these days. i see 83 next year. Wink

well have to do it again next year....hopefully, ill get my carb issue resolved....

It was great meeting everybody today and putting a face to the forum names. All these guys are great and yes, SMW, you missed a great day. As the day progressed it got warmer and better.

I was really impressed with Hopatcong. Great guy and learned so much from the hour I spent watching him wrench on his ski. Last time I changed my pipe it took me and a friend approximately 3+ hours. He changed his pipe and did some work in about an hour Eek Thanks for the lesson.

I have been working hard on getting more speed out of my ski and was expecting to be in the 69.2-69.5MPH range.

What made my day was that I ran 70.0 on Hopatcong's radar gun Big Grin

I have to thank all the people on this forum for all the advice that I was given. Keep those posts coming!! Fercho...thanks for the time's you spoke to me and gave me advice...Gracias mi hermano!!

One person that I really have to also thank is RX951. For the last 6 months Billie has been giving me advise on what to do on my ski to make it get to where its at now...no secrets, but just advise that has been posted here on this forum on how to make them happen (I never turned a wrench before I started with this project).

BTW, did I mention I hit 70.0MPH!!

Wow, what a great day!!!

What can ya say! It was a Blast! Everyone was great. Dan was the speed king of the day even though he was running fat early on and had trouble later. I stood on the beach and watched him blow by a couple of RXPs and N4P and N4P was hauling. Speaking of N4P he had no trouble hanging with those stage 2 RXPs, those guys were impressed by the speed of tha XL. Thanks to Howard for letting me ride his RXP that boat was smooth and Fast, I was telling my wife about it and her reaction was "are you thinking of going back to Sea-Doo?" Eek I think she is trying to soften me up for something. Again great time today, it was so good that I think I may try to hold out and do a Halloween Ride, and then again...

What was really impressive about Hopatcong's ski is that he ran 81.5MPH GPS on such a short distance!!

need4power hit 75+ on the radar gun on his XL!!

We also need to thank Danny for managing the radar gun. He stood in the water the whole time making sure everybody got their speed readings. Thanks a lot.

Y2GREY, great meeting you. Thanks for the help with my son's battery.

c4del, that's a nice ski...and FAST Eek

Benny, carbuff91, BillB and all the others that I can't remember their names, we need to do this again next year. Maybe we can get more people out there.

Yea, it was a good time and I managed a blistering 60.1 on a full tank of gas and 169.3 hour bone stock boat... Frown...well, you have to start somewhere and I think with help from Benny and some others on here...I'll hit my 70mph goal..and that's where I'll probably stay for awhile.

I just want to go out and have a good time and still be able to somewhat keep up with the big boys..and benny...that old lady had a nice body..you can't deny that.. Big Grin

Hope to do this some more next year when I'll get a full season of riding in.

Y2Grey I'll probably be hitting you up for some info on what else I can do to my ski...your's kicks ass.

Later all,
Steve

Thanks Carbuff,
I LMAO when I ran that 71+ in the full upright seated position. WOW I hit a whopping 40 hrs on that boat today LOL. My plugs are 2 years old and I haven't touched the jetting since 02. It's all about reliability with me. Give me a shout, no secrets here Cool

the only pic i took....my blow out at 5am!

c4del was taking some pics at the beach....

c4del?? you left your video camera there????? honestly, after you left, i didnt look beyond the parts on the back of my gpr. i hope you found it....so long as you didnt leave it behind.

ram, i guess if were gona talk #'s, 81.7 and 81.6 in opposite directions on my gps. it probably could have been an 82 day if i didnt screw with the carbs on the bottom end. oh well.....better luck next time! YOU better be hitting 75 next time we meet!

dmd, the chin is up. it wouldn't be the first time i killed a mill....and...it wont be the last. whats a piston worth in the quest for speed?? the funny thing is (if it could be???) when i was changing jets...i was joking with danny and ramnj that "i hope it dont blow up"!!! lol, its only time and money....and i never said i was "professional" tuner...just a back yard hump here.

the sick part, im already skeeming in my mind how to get the displacemnt higher. now that these numbers are out, im sure others will hit them in due time, in the mean time, my motor is stripped and ready to get freshened up or re-worked.

and btw, what up with need4pwr?? a 75mph xll??? oh my lord.....is 80 next? Eek
