First of all how is everyone? well I guess I should say I had a 1997 Sea Doo sp and for my first ski it was a blast but anyone that owned this ski know's it can get old fast Smile
I'm looking at getting a 04 ski and have had my eye on a couple different otions.
I have narrowed it down to the gp1300r,xlt1200 or Sea Doo's RXP/GTX as you can see this time I plan on doing it right. so from your personal experiences what kind of comps can u give me? The GP1300r's price tag looks better then the RXP but will it perform the same? and the XLT has some nice ammenities that the GPR doesn't. I'll say that iv'e been favoring the GPR so far. Thanks.

The RXP is simply an "unkown" at this point. The only thing "known" about this craft was discussed a few weeks ago as the results of a private Dyno revealed it was only 195 hp .......not the 215 as advertised.

Right now you're going to have "best guesses" on the RXP's performance. My guess is if you plan on keeping the ski stock.......the RXP will be tough to beat.

However............If you plan on modding your ski........the GP1300R is Theeeee platform. You can expect 71-75 mph (depending on which Riva kit you chose) with Riva mods and reliability as long as you can see.

I personally have the Riva Stage 2 1300R and am proud to say she runs 73 mph and I only put gas and oil in her all summer long.

Pretty much what you have in a stock RXP you just about have a Riva Stage 2 1300R going 7-8 mph faster.

Easy choice in my book.

1300R........Period. Cool

I listen to what the voices inside my GPR glove box tell me to do.

How does the XLT compare to the GPR as far as acceleration and handling? I guess there kinda apples to oranges eh? I like the style of the XLT better and it has more toys not to mention it's a 3 seater but how much slower is it then the GPR?
Sorry for posting in wrong section.

Well, even though I would never pick an RXP, this is going to give the GPR people A LOT of disappointments.
Maybe not you and "Da Judge" but everyone with an average (stock or slightly modded) will have a bad summer.
The 1300R is a good top speed platform but a dog everywhere else.
The low and midrange of the RXP will smoke a GPR so hard up to its top speed (65) that it would take 2 miles to a GPR (even modded) to catch up, like it's already the case with a SC.
So far the only thing that can threaten an RXP is a modded STXR everywhere and eventually a 15F or a Honda in the rough.
Basically, to answer the original post
stay away from XLT 1200 (gas hog, min. 5 mphs slower than all the other skis mentioned)
1300 modded will be the fastest
RXP will be the king of the lake
GTX SC is good all around

Others that you forgot :

STXR with some mods will be the best performer
STX 15 F will be the best all around
11

Building :
2003 S/S triple STXR (35% completed)
2003 ltd SXR (95% completed)
2001/02 ltd XP (0% completed)

Sounds like we agree 11. Stock for Stock.......the RXP appears that it will rule the lakes this summer. Modded for Modded.......the 1300R is King.

Jimmi........If I were you.....I would attempt to physically look over each ski you want. Pictures in magazines and what they look like in real life are two different animals. The second thing I would do is ride them. Yep, get in the saddle of each you have an interest in and see what you think. The RXP will feel quite crisp in stock form and may impress you the most.........just remember the 1300R is the one that will pass them all with just a few mods.

Good luck on your choice and welcome to the Riva Forum. Wink

Thx for the input fellas, 9,600$ is what my local dealer said the RXP will hit the floors at and that might be a little too high for me.
On the other hand $8,200-$8,400 for the GPR sounds better to my ears. Your right though Drink my dust boats are alot different in person and riding one is always the deciding factor but dealers don't give water trials do they? not for waverunners anyway. It's just really hard to decide being how much $$ they are these days. For a toy Smile

Jimmi........all of our watercraft dealers in the area will let you demo the unit you are thinking about. I think it might be helpful to pick up the phone and call a couple of your local dealers and ask if they would let you take a couple for a spin. I'm sure if they knew you were serious about a purchase.......you should get the demo ride you deserve.

Don't count out the Yam. 1200XLT! I've got mine right there with my STX-R with only a few engine mods and Jetworks mod! Plus since they are 2-strokes they are a breeze to work on!

I think i'm going to be purchasing the XLT 1200
maybe a 2003 if I can find a leftover. I chose this because I whould like a 3 seater for starters plus it has reverse, cooler, mirrors, trim, tilt and I love the black and red color scheme. what do you guys think a decent price to pay whould be in the new year for one of these? that is if I can find a new one. If not I like both the 2004 colors anyway's and I think everything else is the same on this model from 2003-2004.

I bought the xlt in july and I have 54 hours with no problems. Mine is blue. I hade my heart set on a gpr but when i started looking, it wasn't worth the added speed. It also has a smaller gas tank. I paid 8600.

03 xlt 1200 pv clips, stage 1 comming

Jim: I just did handeling mods first. Intake grate, ride plate, prop, sponsons& sealed pump. Then I finished off with waveeater clips, Pro-Tec powervalve controller and JeWorks Mod. Ski alrady had "D" plate & chip. Carl at Island Racing guided me through most of this. Peobably about $800.00 all together. Real close to my STX-R overall except for sharp turns around bouys. STX-R is about 150 lbs lighter. Yam. handels the rough water better especially combined with the Pro-Tec power valve controller.

Jimi- If you want to take a road trip to south/central NJ, check out Hobby Lobby. They sell at almost wholesale. You more than likely will not find anyone selling new PWC cheaper.

No catch. However, they only stock a certain amount and due to their prices, they sell out fast. Once they sell out for the season, they are done.

I have an '03 XLT 1200. I have about 40 hours on it and no problems. It does everything I want it to do. Remember if you plan on tubing or anything like that you need a 3 seater...
Just my 2 cents. I love it. I think I paid $8200 w/ trailer on 4th of July weekend. Not a bad price I thought.
