I am entertaining the GP 1300 or the RXP.

Thoughts...the difference between:

A)Open and closed loop cooling systems. Does the open loop system run cooler?

B)Real stock top speed. I might modify it in the long run but will keep it stock for a while.

C)Reliability...I put 100 hours on my FX HO Cruiser this year, which one would have a longer life.

D)Weight...does it really matter? The GP is considerably lighter.

E)Hull Composition...have there been any problems with construction?

F)Manuverability...is one a more fun playboat then the other.

G)Four stroke versus two stroke...is one better?

Thanks for any feedback you might give as I want to make a sound decision.

Thanks, Mike

I love my 1300 but if i was going to have a 100% stock ski I would have to go with the RXP or maybee the ultra 250. Just my 2 cents they both ride a lot diffrient and the only way you will be able to make the correct choice is to find one of each to ride! I bought the 1300 because I am a yamaha guy!If the RXP had a yamaha badge I would have one :-)

I agree with BRADW. Words cannot fully describe a ski and help a person make a choice of one over the other. The best thing to do is try out both. I would recommend trying other skis too because you may find out that you don't like the GPR or RXP.

To answer a couple questions though, what RIVA says the stock skis do are accurate. Yes, some are quicker and others slower out of the box, but the averages are there. 67~68 for RXP, 65~67 for GPR. As far as reliability I can't speak for the GPR, but the RXP tends to have SC clutch failures. This can be fixed simply by replacing the ceramic washers with metal ones. Other than that, the RXP is reliable. 4 stroke vs. 2 stroke is a personal preference. It depends which you like to work with.

My 2 cents. Good luck with your purchase.

Thanks...do you know if the 2007 RXP have the metal washers? If not, what is the cost to do so? I am not much of a whencher so I would probably have it done.

Thanks for your feedback.

No They do not have metal washers, they have thicker ones compared to the 06's but are still susceptable to clutch failure just like the rest of the ceramics. you can take it to ure dealer and they can do it but theyll charge an arm and a leg for sure and you will have to buy the metal washers and bring the washers to your dealer. so it will cost you the washers plus whatever the dealer charges for liek an hour and a half of work
