What is the best wax for a ski? I have been using Zymol, just because it works good on my Chevy Colorado. Also, how often should I wax.
Thanks,
Jumper

Jumper- I would use Meguires wax. It has always worked very well for me on ski's, my boat and on the vehicles.

This may sound like a dumb question, but has anyone ever GPS'd a ski before and after a wax coating? If so, any difference?

I dont like to use any wax with teflon in it, it scratches the surface.

Use wax on the top side. I used wax on the bottom of my GP about three years ago and lost about 1.5 mph. Waxes are probably all different the wax that cost me speed is Turtle wax spray on wipe off. Use a specialty speed coating on the bottom of the hull if you want some cheap speed.

If someone has had good luck with wax post the kind of wax and how it was applied.

The speed coating I have used is a graphite moly mix I bought from Rex Marine. It did make a difference on my machine.

Probably 1 mph. I never change 1 thing at a time so its hard to really put a number to it. I can say the best the GP1200 ever did before was 62 and small change. Then I got a 63.6 out of it and it was pulling 61 on a full tank. So I am convenced there is something there.

I made a few changes to the GPR and it went from 70 and small change to 72+. That was my super angled plate and speed coat.

Its not a wax. It looks like a grey primer. The name is Lubri-Bond A. I bought it in aerosol spray cans from Rex Marine. Drag boats use it on the hulls and pump components. I just put it on the rideplate and trim tabs. I scuffed them with coarse sandpaper, solvent wiped and sprayed. It held up pretty well.

Do they make that moly in a tintable form? That would be great if they did! Just a thought...

Hey spud. Do they have a website? Or do you have their number so that I can contact them. Also, can you look at the product and tell me if the product has a website.
Thanks,

this is real nasty stuff to work with - you can't tint it and I don't even think you want to spray it on - I very carefully used a brush

I just sprayed it on my rideplate and trim tabs. It looks like grey auto primer. It drys fast. I used the aerosol cans. I think Philip bought a quart or a pint.

Good luck. I just scuffed my rideplate with 120 sandpaper then wiped it with alcohol then spayed it good.

Let us know your results. I'm sure it worked for me.
