Took my new superjet to Matanzas Inlet last sunday (about 45 mins north of Daytona Beach). Beautiful day, few drzzles that burned right off...Having a great down screwing around in the bay, 2 GPR's down the beach..Everyone had there own space...Not an hour later do I have 2 doo's on either side of me...I chatted with the first people to show up "Yeah, my friend lent me his ski's for the day.." Thats all I needed to hear... These guys were inexperienced, but didnt have perfect riding etiquette. Then it gets bad...Family shows up with 2 more doo's...First off, neither ski is registered..There is maybe 1 number on either side..The rest have peeled off..They then begin to tow a tube (single rider, no spotter) and are whipping this guy back and forth over an area of about 4-6 inch deep water at certain areas (learned that from a nice bruise on my hip)...They are just laughing hysterically running this 951 XP to the limits, buzzing the shore..Riding 2 up and lets just say "overloading the vessel" with its passengers...After watching this for about 30 minutes I was fed up, packed up my chit and pulled out...

Absolutely 100% the reason why we get a bad rap..

That sucks man. It only takes a few idiots (sometimes just one) to ruin things. Take a look at this thread. It has taken a good turn after briefly threatening to desolve into a war of words: http://rivaforums.com/eve/forums?a=tpc&s=6446095904&f=3686010134&m=815109413
The opinions expressed in that thread are the kind that our political leaders need to hear in order to protect us from the kind of stupidity you mentioned.

Scott,
That's some bad stuff alright.

Did you actually do anything to correct it, like politely ask them to stop, or even call the rangers or police?

I don't want to come down on you. In fact, don't read this in that light at all.

IMHO, as a responsible rider, we have to hammer these arseholes that continue to give us black eyes. Even standup riders. Just coming on a forum to share, doesn't address that group of freaks you let off the hook. I'm sure you didn't feel comfortable doing it. Neither do I. In fact, I feel like a turd everytime I have to get involved. I hate the look on the faces of the people, when they look at me, like I'm the party-killing-troll... Sometimes I'm half afraid of getting shot. I go talk to the rangers at that point. But I want to RIDE for many years.

I actually stopped trying to be nice, with my French accent people don't listen.
So I come and say something like "yo! don't do that!", if they do it again, it's pump wash.

i hear ya mark...I didnt feel comfortable getting into it, but I will next time. I think what I needed was some riva board "muscle" to back me up...Either that or a 1300 stage II so when they did start shooting I could just jump on, hammer it and like 11 said.. "eat my jetwash!" Smile

Yup,
...and it feels like a neverending stream of losers and lowlifes. The tide is overwhelming at times.

I've gotten to the point where I won't go to some locations on the weekends... This could be the same thing as avoiding them as well. Frown
