Can anyone estimate the list of fastest accelerating 'out of the box' ski's from 0 ~ 40

How about the same for the most nimble (old XP fun factor)

Interested in a fast and nible ski, don't need something that has top end speed, prefere acceleration.

Thanks,

I would say that the old GP, the Blaster II and the original XP were the top three as far as stock 0 to 40 speed is concerned. It did not take a whole lot to make them quicker either.

By the way, they made some really great wave jumpers.

You ain't kiddin' David, the X-4 hull
(1996-1999 XP&SPX) and the old school 97-99 GP1200 hull were awesome for being snappy boats and great wave jumpers

Thanks for the feedback, I had a 95 HX that was very quick.

Looking more toward the newer ski's, FXHO, GPR, RXP, R-12X, etc....

Thanks,

I rode a RXP yesterday, and it made me want to slap a Yamaha engineer. OMG what a holeshot; no cavitation, no hesitation, it just GOES. How do they do that? It can't be just HP; I never got the feeling that the prop was spinning.

I tell you Jerry.... I do want to replace my Polaris with a new 3 seater in the next year. Honestly, right now ,I can't say for sure what ski I will buy. I am just going to wait a while to see if S/D works out their clutch issues I have been hearing about. The FXHO has the reliability issues down, just not the performance I know the S/D has, and for the few hundred dollars in difference, man, I just don't know. I am on the fence on this one. I can say for sure, I can't ever see myself getting rid of my GPRs.

Kirk, most of the clutch issues you hear about were from improper installation of the Rotax Racing heavy duty clutch assembly's.

I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Not to mention i belive the only reason there is a clutch is because of the lack of a blow off valve. I am in the process of replacing my SC clutch which lasted 145 hard hours BTW, and will also be installing a blow off valve that should hopefully eliminate the clutch problem. Look at it like this- The new breed (4-techs) have only been around a short time, things are only getting better.

Considering the GP12/1300R platform has been around for 5 years, the RXP is an incredible boat out of the box and I can only imagine how it will progress with 5 years of development, however, I cant magine how anyone can say it doesnt cavitate out of the box, I've ridden a few all stock RXPs and if there is something that killed it for me was prop spin ourt of the hole and in turns. The rideplate is in dire need of development as are the sponsons and intake, so yeah it's a very fast boat, but let's not get carried away.

Mario,
My RXP did not cavitate out of the hole. It MIGHT have spun the prop, but not very often.

The holeshot was the SAVING GRACE of the RXP. The holeshot is why it is one bad-arsed ski.

I'm not sure what kind of clapped-out ones you got to ride, but they sure werent well kept or something. In your defense, they do eat through the plastic prop liners PDQ.
