Alrighty, just bought a Yamaha HO, and have had it in the water twice and was wondering what is the correct way to setup the winching post and strap to it?

I am currently running the strap under the rollers and through the eye on waverunner. The problem is that the eye is so close to the top of the boat that the rubber fender is all that sits on the rollers.

I have attached a few photos and was wondering if I could get some opinions on how it is attached. I am kinda worried about the front weight of the boat resting on that rubber lip.

Check the pics if my description isn't clear.

Thanks

If you are worried about it being to close you can lower the winch arm so that it sits lower on the ski. There are some bolts you can lossen on the arm to fix your problem

But then the eye would be higher than the tower, and I would have to winch it with the strap above the tower....is that ok to do?

If the strap is on top, there isn't much from keeping it from poping over the sides....or is that a non concern?

I don't know what to tell you about the winch post. I would however advise you to be very very nice to your neighbors!!!!!

Funny that you say that...I got new neighbors behind me last weekend and they have a pair of Yamahas...2003 XLT 1200 and 98 XLT 700? (not sure on the that one)

ANywhos, we went out last night, the HO is pretty much same performance wise as the XLT 1200. Hole shot, top speed....handling is a little different..but similar...it was a blast...

Its funny, this my first PWC and I get new neighbors move in with a pair of yamahas the day I pick up my HO....its funy so far. Put 6.7 hours on in one week.

you have it set up the right way. you want the strap to go under the bow stop.

also- you might want to change the bow stop to one of those polyurethane ones (the yellow ones). they won't mark your hull up. the black rubber ones will leave marks on your hull. go to any trailer shop and they will carry them. you'll need a 3 inch.

The problem is that the bow stops don't even touch the hull, due to the eye on the PWC being to big. It juts out and contacts the bar in between the bow stops.

Also, when you go to put the pwv in the water, that lip hangs on the tower and won't come off unless you phsycially lift the PWC nose out of the water and push it back...

I have re-adjusted it now, but the strap now goes above the bow stops.

if you're going to use it that way, i'd attach another tie down strap from the bow eye down to the trailer to keep some downward pressure on it. this will keep it from bouncing while trailering.

Yeah the original way is the best. It keeps the ski held down on the trailer.

You may need to get a bigger bowstop on the end of the arm so the pwc eye doesn't hit it.
I replaced mine with one of those wedge shaped ones which is much better on the hull. But then again my eye wasn't touching the original rubber stop. I would try and get a larger stop so the eye doesn't hit it. If this fails you will have to move the stop and then use two straps because you definetly want something that will hold the ski down on the trailer.
