ok, heres the deal.. My wife recently found out that WE are pregnant. (YEA!!) Unfortunately, summers are short here in maryland and she is a jet ski freak.(GP1300R.. HERS!).. nice right!! The doctor says, NO jet skiing, and i was wondering what you guys AND gals think about that. I think the doctor knows what is safe or not, but she wants to go..Is it safe for her to be out on her ski?? what would be the potential problems as a result? This is very important to us as we have been trying to have a child for some time.. Let me know..

Thank You.

how can you even ask this question? first you try hard to get pregnant, then the doctor says NO SKI, then you come on the board to ask some average Joes what to do over the Doctor???? Man, you should really rethink some things.

Do what the Dr. Says !! Riding that ski is not a good idea nor important as the health of mom and the new child is. Keep her off it. The time will come when she will be able to ride again.

You don't want to be guilt ridden if something happended.

I'm both a nurse (yeah, I know, "Gaylord Focker"), and a rider. While she would probably be OK if she just rode a straight line on smooth water, it's like driving a car with no seat belt; your OK if nothing happens. All it would take would take would be a good toss off of the thing, or even a hard smack while going over a big wake, and the lives of both your wife and your child are in jeapordy. Listen to your Doc, this is what he or she does for a living.

Besides... you will need the money you would spend on fuel and oil to feed her when she starts eating for two.

On another subject.... what kind of numbers are you getting on your XLL?

By the way.... Congrats to you both!

I ASKED THE QUESTION BECAUSE THIS IS ALL NEW TO US.. NOT TO GET BLASTED. THIS BOARD HAS A TON OF MEMBERS WITH ALL TYPES OF EXPERIENCE (IE. NURSES, DOCTORS ETC), SO I ASKED WHAT THE CONCENSUS IS. MY WIFE WAS PUSHING TO GO AND I SAID NO .FYI.
I DO APPRECIATE THE REPLIES AND ALSO PROFESSIONAL (DOCTORS) ADVICE. SHE WILL NOT BE GOING.

SMITTY- NO ACCURATE (DREAMO ONLY) NUMBERS YET, BUT I'M GONNA BRING THE RADAR GUN HOME FROM WORK THIS WEEK , SO I'LL LET YOU KNOW.! CANT WAIT TO SEE.

Let me know about the numbers, looking forward to getting some GPS ones on mine soon. I used to have a Stage II GPR, I was almost hitting 69 with it, and I think I could have milked it up to 70 with just a little more work. I know this isn't going to be as fast, but it's solid as a rock in the chop.

yea, the XL shouldnt have that kind of speed , but i am hoping for mid 60's with it.would take one fast gpr to keep up with that in rough water.. "NEED4PWR" was knocking on 67 with his single piped ski XL, which would be great! its kinda like making a 70's monte haul balls! makes a nice sleeper.

i'm goin out friday to run with by brother in law on his lightly modded ultra. i will post the results for ya!

BTW, the battle over whether or not my wife is going out on her ski has been settled. one of the reasons i posted was to show her that its NOT an option! Shes just a high octane kind of woman (which is cool with me), if you know what i mean.

A couple of years ago, Carl was working with JG1 on his XLT; they were over 68 and were figuring on hitting 70 with a little more work when he sold the ski. I'm wondering if anyone else has got those numbers from a single pipe XLL/XLT?

My wife rode my Ski until her 6th ot 7th month. As long as she isn't jumping 5 footers I can't see why she shouldn't be able to ride a bit. I have known female atheletes that run until 8 months.

Of course, I used to ride my crotch rocket at 160mph wearing nothing but thin hospital scrubs.... wasn't an issue because I didn't wreck in them.

We all take chances.
