I am into this sport about 1 year now and I have seen 3 stand-ups in the local area. But the little they show of PWC racing on TV is 80-90% stand-up What's up with that? There are a lot more of us run about people out here I would love to see more Run About on TV. I even wrote a letter to ESPN if scrabble is sport how can they not show PWC Run about racing. I have even seen more lawn mower racing than Run abouts. It suck!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm with you on that one.
I think there is a longer tradition with standups and to the TV execs it might seam like they are more "Xtreme" but those people don't know nothing.
They put on "sports" like golf and poker but leave out the sports for people who are actualy alive out of their programing.
I wish we could get EUROSPORT , they show a ton of cool stuff including runabouts.

Guys, the Networks have little or nothing to do with PWC racing appearing on their broadcasts, advertisers are the ones that buy the programing and television is all about the numbers. No one out there including PWC manufacturers are willing to pay what it costs to put PWC on a show with national exposure on one of the major broadcasters. The shows that have appeared on Speed TV have been paid for by the manufacturers and advertisers gathered by the IJSBA, this past season Kawasaki was the only one picking up the tab except for the finals which were co sponsored by Sony Playstation. The reason stand ups were featured this season is because Kawi had a brand new stand up to sell as there were no other new models except for the 4 strokes which ar not featured in racing yet. Eurosport doesnt show that much PWC racing either, in fact all I've seen on Eurosport religiusly has been the Bercy race which occurs once yearly, or should I say occured as there wont be any Bercy this year for PWC or so it seems up to now.

Jake I personaly don't listen opinions from people who bash either runabout or stand ups.
I only accept opinions from people who ride both, or at least have tried both and state "that is not for me but it's cool".
So to answer your first question, the tour was owned by Kawasaki, and Kawasaki people wanted to shine on the show they paid for.
I regret the situation, the motivations and the method, but at least they paid for you to see it, so if you don't like what you get for free, well that is too bad but I am afraid you will have to live with it.
If other OEMs pitched in you may have seen more runabouts motos.
Also I wish there had been more runabout races too because I happen to like both.

PS : I hope your lawnmower reference wasn't aimed at pro ski races because those skis are more powerfull, quicker, faster and require another kind of rider your FX140 does.

Someone needs their nap...what bashing are you talking about? Like you, everybody has an opinion and if you don't listen to the ones you don't like, why respond? Roll Eyes

11 Chill out I was not saying anything bad about either I love the sport and would try a stand up if I had the chance. It is just that runabouts are more popular so if they show more of that more people would watch and then they would have more people watching the Kaw. advertising. All I want to do is see more racing. And second no I was not comparing Lawnmower racing to anything. And Say what you want about my FX-140 it is what I wanted if gets great gas milage for cruising and that is what I do with it. And last I am a race fan and would watch people race bath tube if it was on TV ask my wife it drives her crazy! LOL

Well RUMOR has it that the APBA has taken over the IJSBA and plan to air events on ESPN. I guess time will tell. According to RUMORS they plan on having east and west coast tours in '04. Hope this pans out. HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Smile
