I agree with Yamadoo. Why the beating up on RC? I have read what RC has posted. Nothing negative. They have congratulated Kerry and have just given facts on what its taken to get this properly documented. Maybee I am missing something.
Riva, one suggestion. I remember after the first mudbug, you commented on how you wish you could have made it. Well, with so much notice about MBII and so many of your customers attending (not to mention possibilities of speed records being broken)why not have some of the Riva Crew attend? To me that's just good businness.

Yamadoo2,I can not believe this post you just submitted. How can you say kerry's run is bs.Were you there holding the radar gun or better yet were you there on the party barge with ellie when he saw the numbers displayed on the gun...........I did not think so. Roll Eyes
Just stay over here and keep running your mouth.
You will never and i will quote NEVER run those speeds kerry did. Big Grin

You are right about it being your two cents but its just not fair to assume someone did not run those numbers when over 100 people saw it with their own eyes.

Well yamadoo2, no matter what we say will not satisfy you but the gun used was a Stalker Pro which was checked before the run with a tuning fork and was witness by a Houston Police Officer, who is also a member of this board. The one shooting the gun was sitting on his butt resting against the rail in the front of an anchored barge which was not moving and sitting in the middle of the canal. There were plenty on the barge who seen that in no way was the gun being moved for the run and they saw the numbers before it was erased for the next run. So you can run your mouth all you want but Kerry ran what is being posted.
Also many of the guys who did run had their gps on their skis and most were even with the gun. So you can use whatever method of excuses you want but he did it and that it was done in very hot Louisiana weather.

Kerry ran those speeds in the heat wait till it cools down.... some of the best tunners and gurus where there to witness not a 1 disagreed. as far as RIVA they claimed (or led you to belive that they broke the world record)no 2 ways about that. Riva why dont you and Kerry have a build of and really see who is top dog. my money is on Kerry. oh by the way RIVA thanks for the 1/3 ported motor. first motor seized at 40 hrs and the replacement motor you sent was 1/3 ported so i had Tim Judge clean up your mess.

You hit the nail on the head Richard!
Proper documentation. I was there and I know and believe what I saw. No question about it. Kerry is the man! As a sceptic, without proper documentation, I would be balking too. I honestly think Riva believes the #s because the know what the GPR platform can achieve, but without the proper paperwork, anyone can second quess it.
All this B/S behind if he did it or not is actually a good thing. Next year this will be done in a fashion that no one will be able to dispute and we can finally put it to rest.
Great job Kerry! We all know who is #1.

I personally don't think RC meant anything by his post.

Is it possible the radar gun was off by 1 mph? I doubt it! I also want to mention that we all ran in front of the same radar gun so the playing field was even.

Re-read my post. I never said RIVA was doubting or second guessing it. I actually said that I thought you DID believe the #s.
All I was trying to say, was that until the documentation is done right, ANYONE can poke holes in the run or try and find ways to say the numbers were not accurate. Roll Eyes

No worries, I can see you have been beat down!
I agree with Jerry; the best thing you guys could do is come to Mudbugs and help. This would serve 2 good purposes. 1, you can legitimize the run, and 2nd, you can show everyone that Riva does still care. Who knows, you guys might actually have fun too. Big Grin

Well thats my point. Were the mag people there 2 days cking out this boat. Maybe or did you guys just say yesterday the boat hit 87+. Then it goes on to say today were looking for a speed of 82.

I seew two problems. If over 3 runs you averge 82.96 and one run is 87.5 what were the other 2 runs. About 81 or so would give 83.16 for an average. What happed? How did you loose 5 to 6 mph beteen runs?

Why are they looking for a speed of 82 when the day before it ran 87.5?

I saw that boat run in nashville less than 75. Why did it loose 12+ mph after it was sold ?
If I had payed that kind of money for an 87 mph boat that only went 75 well ?

Are you sure the boat did'nt spike the one run ?

I know kerry had 2 runs and his first one he bounced 3 different times. Then another guy rode his boat and looked liked he may have hit some rollers and bounced once.
those 3 runs will average 87.9 if memory serves me right. 87.2 88.5 88.0.

I guess these are hard questions. But If you could anser it would be helpful to a lot of us.
This post is with respect and not to bash but to better understand.
Thank you for ansering as I have been wondering about this a long time.

It only took one day to do the trials. In the Tech Tip about measuring top speed on page 4 of our current printed catalog you can see Matt Gruhn holding the radar gun while radaring TJ during the trial runs.

The variance in speed between runs happened with each of us that rode the craft. It was very sensitive to rider position, wind, water surface variances, etc. Then there was the problem I've described on the forums many times as "The Buck". You'd be at or near top speed and the tail would suddenly lift. If you weren't ready for it you were going swimming at 80+. Anyone who's hit the water at any speed knows it hurts like hell.

The current owner doesn't have as much experience riding as TJ and didn't have TJ coaching him. Taking that and how sensitive the craft is [as stated above] into consideration you can see why the new owners obtainable speeds are somewhat lower than ours.

Naturally there were spikes on some of the runs; which were thrown out. That's why the average was so low. Matt Gruhn used consecutive runs for calculating the average. Not the best ones we picked out over the course of the day.

Please, never hesistate to post or e-mail me any questions you may have. I don't mind answering anything as long as we're civil about it.
