Te-june, I do not understand your question.

I do understand Kerry did go that fast, I was there and went 83 myself.

My statement regarding being brutal is this. If people are that unhappy why do they come here ?
Why do they adjitate Riva crew ?

If I were Riva I would pull the plug on this whole deal. It can not be worth the headache.

I'm taking a big breath now. OK, seems I ended up making things worse, not better.

Please Let my clarify my earlier post. I did NOT say Kerry's run was BS. In fact he could have been going faster than recorded. (ie cosine angle error could make radar read low). I had a problem with the accuracy claim and the attitude.

I actually had 2 points to make:
I first took exception to starting another round of insults and arguments on a public forum that's here for the benefit of everyone. Creating unnecessary, unproductive conflict just ain't no fun for anyone. If you can't be kind and objective then you should stop and consider what you are posting.

I threw the BS flag on claiming 88.7 on radar is absolutely accurate and proof positive of that exact number. My point was NOT to discredit Kerry's or any one's accomplishment. My point is that when your talking a fraction of 1 mph, microwave radar (just like GPS)is a useful tool but it is not accurate enough in real world conditions to make it worth starting another "freaking" argument over.

Additionally some seem to be demanding recognition of a "world record" and attacking anyone presumed to question it. Simply put it is an accomplishment, not a record. It would be great to see that change, but it is what it is. I personally could care less about any "record" because this sport for me is about fun, going fast, and sharing the experience with other people. If I wanted to compete with people I'd get into racing. What I do care about is respecting rights of others to comment or question without being unfairly attacked. This ain't communist China for christ sake.

As a side note:
The very best Mwave radar is only capable of +- .1 mph repeatable accuracy in an enclosed controlled environment. Real world accuracy is closer to +- 1 mph and can be as high as 3 mph. Then add to that any errors made by the operator. It's not that the radar unit is not capable of great accuracy, it's because the environment is not perfect. If anyone's interested in all the things that can add up to effect radar accuracy please feel free to contact me, or better yet start a post and we'll all hash it over.

If anybody was offended by my last post, I apologize. If your still offended, well you'll get over it. Cool

Ken

The variance in speed between runs happened with each of us that rode the craft. It was very sensitive to rider position, wind, water surface variances, etc. Then there was the problem I've described on the forums many times as "The Buck". You'd be at or near top speed and the tail would suddenly lift. If you weren't ready for it you were going swimming at 80+. Anyone who's hit the water at any speed knows it hurts like hell..

Tell me Riva, is this buck a result of the pump
being overstuffed at high speed? How did you help this problem? By enlarging the exit nozzle? Or adjusting other items? Ben

Yes. We ended up running the R&D race grate and shoe with single bar intake, Skat custom swirl impeller, stock stator, lengthened stock nozzle that was reduced and RIVA Performance Auto-Trim Nozzle that was mofified as well.

I went and picked up the newest edition of the Guinness Book of World Records tonight since they still don't have the record available online. Here's the cover and actual record on page 542.

I read this entire Topic and did not see RIVA anywhere be conceded or be a wise a$$. Seems some of you guys took 1 Sentence and twisted it around to what only a handful of you could have taken it. The clown commenting on the Power Core just looked like a total idiot. What have you designed or fabricated lately Noob?
Seems the people with the big heads on here are the 1's that have signed up on this forum in the past 6 months. In 3 years on here I cant say I have ever seen Riva discriminate any1 or flame on any claims. Just a few nooblets here making a big stink over nothing Wink

There were plenty on the barge who seen that in no way was the gun being moved for the run and they saw the numbers before it was erased for the next run. So you can run your mouth all you want but Kerry ran what is being posted.
Also many of the guys who did run had their gps on their skis and most were even with the gun. So you can use whatever method of excuses you want but he did it and that it was done in very hot Louisiana weather.

Who is Houston Police Officer??? By the way, Houston Police Officers do not tune their own radar guns!!!

We were looking at the newspaper article about the accident just the other day. Mr. Smith was on his way to RIVA when for reasons unknown his Explorer drifted into the inside emergency lane and struck a parked lawn service trailer. His vehicle was engulfed in flames nearly burning it to the ground. Hopefully the impact was severe enough that he didn't suffer in the fire.

Truly sad. He was a unique and gernerous man... Frown
