After years of swearing allegiance to GPR's its time to change. Next one definitely has to be a 3-seater, too. I was very disappointed with the ride of the FX160 HO when they came out and I know the SHO is a different PWC, but how do the ergonomics feel? I am 6-3 and 280.
I rode a 4 Tec SC for a while when they came out and I thought it was a very comfortable ride but definitely couldn't hang with my modded GPR. I know the RXT is faster and the RXT-X definitely faster. I had sworn off Sea Doos years ago but the 4 strokes seem to be fairly reliable and probably not too far off Yamaha for reliability.
For those who have been able to ride both an RXT )-X) and SHO, how do they comare? I ride lakes with mild boat chop, and I wonder how they compare after a day of riding on the back and knees, too. THANKS!!!
MY STATS: 06'YAMAHA GP1300R RIVA INTAKE GRATE RIVA RIDE PLATE(shimed!) RIVA TRIM TABS RIVA D-PLATE RIVA PUMP SEAL KIT STEPPED SPONSONS i get approx. 75 mph on the speedo! in the back bays....8-)
I have a RXT-X and its fast turning 8040rpm. i traded my 2001 GPR and very glad to change, i think the seadoo 4-tec is a good strong running motor, alot more reliable than a two stroke motor, Of coarse its new but i know others who have the four stroke motor and have good luck. Now compared to the yamaha the seadoo uses 92oct fuel and the yamaha uses 87oct fuel, One thing i do like on the seadoo is the trim system on a big three seater the first for that and it sure helps, great holeshot with the trim system. One thing i added was the opas clips which raises the paddles up some it helps in the handling with them higher up, plus they still work if you need them. To me i would choose the seadoo over the yamaha, seadoo has more horsepower than yamaha. Unless you dont want to burn higher octane i would buy the RXT-X hands down. It doesnt feel like a three seater.
Did you condisder your RXT-X as nimble a handling machine as your GPR? I love to corner hard and am more interested in handling than top speed. Most three seaters I have tried feel like they are sliding around a corner. The more nimble 2 seat 2 strokers always felt like they were on rails in a corner - does your RXT-X have the same kind of feeling?

It handles just find, glad to get rid of the hobby horse, power valve, pump sealen defected parts, GPR was the worse watercraft ive ever had. Im not racing so i dont care to run a coarse around corners, I just want power to jump waves and play in rough water and the RXT-X has all that. plus i can pull a tube and ski behind it with no bogs at all. 255hp and weights 818lbs for a three seater thats great. A GPR would never have a hole shot like the RXT-X has not without spending 5,000 or more.
The SHO has excellent handling! You can go full speed an turn, you just have to hold on tight! The SHO to be has better handling hands down. The SHO has one of the best handling skis i've ever ridden.

If you looking into a 2 seater I'll wait for fz models to come out and see how it handles. Now if you looking into buy a 3 seater sho is the way to go. Incredible hole shot, mid range and top speed for racing and best handling for cruising and speed as well, real comfortable, and the best thing is i believe Yamaha is the most reliable ski brand out there right now. Seadoo's are really good but Yamaha's at their best right now and its only gonna get better soon as those stage 1 kit comes out!!!!!!

Depends on what type of ride you like. I have an RXTX it is very fast and handles very good. You can't tell it is a 3 seater. I rode a new SHO this weekend. Very nice ride not even the same though. .Top speed is real close to RXTX. but it is heavy and handles a lot different. Depends on what you like. Luxury or rocketship?
Compare apples to apples. The FX SHO should be compared to a GTX not a RXT X. FZS should compare to a RXT X. Sport boat to sport boat, cruiser to cruiser.
