While doing my nightly web surfing of PWC sites I came across this letter that some might want to read.

Bill

-------

Friends,
Due to a lack of funds and insufficient budget, I am no longer employed
with the IJSBA.

I have enjoyed working with many of you and created many new friendships
that I will value for years to come. And despite some of the controversy,
the two years that I have been here will be some of the most memorable in
my life. I've gained experience in nearly all aspects of the sport and share
and understand the fun and frustrations with all of you equally.

I am glad to have been able to contribute to the sport, which I started in
as a regular enthusiast, before getting involved in racing. Although my
prior racing experience was in Sport and Runabout in endurance and closed
course, I still have aspirations of racing in the ski class. If only I
could leave the starting line going straight.

It was an honor to be in the driver's seat in establishing the basic
regulations for four-stroke-powered watercraft. I feel that these new
engine platforms will create excitement far beyond our wildest expectations.
Since these were just a starting point, I hope that they will be refined as I
had originally intended.

My only regret is that I was not able to see through in getting the
classes and rules more simplified. Hopefully, after the racing association is
re-established - whatever it may be - those who are in charge will share
the vision of simplification. I would be glad to share my experiences and
further define my vision with whoever the new leaders may be.

It is disappointing that it had to come to this, but it also unfortunate
that more than one of the Board members (OE manufacturers) was
anti-racing.
I will continue to have high hopes for the new or reformed association
and, most importantly, the sport.

What I will do from here is undetermined. However, I'm open to suggestions
or recomendations.

If I could leave offering one piece of advice it would be to remember to
keep it fun. That's what this sport is about.

Good bye and best wishes,

Lee Bower

P.S. I may be reached via my home e-mail address at
thesplashman@earthlink.net (the name has been retained since working at
SPLASH Magazine).

Yamaha 7,

Why are you yelling about it?? We are supposed to stand as riders united. The facts are the facts. United we stand, divided we all fall. Lee may have had issues, that I do not know, but I DO KNOW he was one race director that never had problems talking to the racers. And as far as Yamaha goes, I do not believe for a moment they did anything against PWC racers. Why do you think Riva and all the other after market companies are on top of the ball game in a fair playing field? Just my two cents.

Well Suzan for someone who, in addition of being a lame rider, shows up drunk on an event, trips, falls and sleeps where she falls I don't think you are entitled to do ANY comment or to claim you are promoting anything, I think BWN isn't as dangerous to "the sport" as you are.

Hi Yamaha7!

No ill intent meant on the post. I am sure you have your reasons for your opinion but just find it hard to believe that Yamaha would be anti-racing. And I do agree with you, Yamaha's getting DQ'd while Kawis aren't even tech'd is b/s. In all the races I've been to ALL the top skis were tech'd right after the race in plain view of everyone, including the Endurance Nationals. Hopefully, the next race director will keep it fair for all involved.

I for one am glad to see him go.We caught him in a straight up b.s political situation and he lied to us at the nationals last year.If you want to be the "man" and enforce the rules then do so,but "everyone" must follow.I sure as *&%$ had to.I now have a $20,000 dollar ss that is worthless thanks to the ijsba and it's change the rules at will policies.I remember a freind saying that when budweiser left the tour in 96 that jet ski racing was dead.he was right.it has gone down hill ever since. Then sea-doo,yamaha and now skat trak have left. The ijsba seems intent on killing what little is left.i can only hope that someone else will pick it up and start over fresh.maybe even "outlaw " style.Where you wont have to drive seven hours to race against five skis.I wish lee luck in another field of work.maybe polotics, hey,Arnold did it!

no offense taken just thought i let u know about the caps that's all

also you were at the national enurance race Lee Bower even called the race director to tell hime to check certain ski's and the race dircetor told everyone this and went very smooth with out him there

on yamaha dont think they are playing politic's but you must take a look at it top 3 in expert runabout super stock were all yamaha's LEE tried to D Q all of them i think yamaha rep may have said a few things to some people over it beside's the people who where there i am just sick of favoryisum towards some people and the manufactors of some ski's

Gotta agree with you there 7! Marty Roberts put on one h&ll of a show, as he always does. It was great to see the Third Coast Racing staff helping out with Team Sport Racing and everyone seemed to have a great time. Gotta love the speech that Mark at RPM Racing gave at the awards ceremony. What a weekend!! Smile

I would theorize (and that is all it is) that Mr Bower was released for the same reason that Kawanazi Keebler Racing are releasing a bunch of talent in the PWC scene. A top tuner that went to Polaris snowmobile comes to mind...

I'd be real surprised to see ANY type of national tour next year.

Sorry to chime in here late but I ahve a theory why Lee tried to DQ all of the Expert SS this year. I would be willing to bet they were all running light weight hulls!!! I know of one pro 1200 person who had troubles getting one of his boats checked in because of this. After some discussion they let it in only to tell him that they would check the thickenss of the hull during tech inspection!!!!

Guys imagine racing coming in the top 3 spots in a class at the world finals and someone starts the crap picking .. I personally know I would freak the ---- out. Would have been real funny to see rius win 1200 pro superstock on of course a yamaha. Just to see what would have happened..
