I am not sure on all of the names of the parts so I will try to describe my problem the best I can.my prob is the nut on the fitting that The bar goes through the hull and conects to the nozzle to steer my gp 1200 keeps coming loose the first time it came all the way off and I couldn't turn right and I was taking on alot off water. well I was able to get in and tightn it back down I can't really get a wrench on it though and it keeps working its way loose even if I could get wrench on it I am afraid of making it too tight since it is just a plastic nut and washer any one have any ideas on keeping this nut tight that would be great

Clean both parts and put some rtv on the threads.

The rod is the stearing cable. You can go to a yamaha dealer and they have a long tool that fits over the rod to tighten the nut. Or you can take the battery box out and tighten it with a regular wrench from the inside!

RTV stands for room temperature vulcanizing

Silicone, gasket maker or permatex. Something flexible and easy to get off but keeps things from vibrating loose.
