I went to the boat show tonight and happened to run into a salesman who has seen me in and out of his store mostly window shopping but recently he knew I was ready to make a move and I asked him over the phone if he whould match the price that I found of $8,899 for the 2004 GTX SC in Albany and he said there was no way he could come close but $600 bux is alot of cash to me.
Well tonight he asked if I had made a decision and I said yes I already bought a boat elswehere and He said "ya know the only problem is who's going to service it now" I said well you will won't you he said "well here's the thing we service cash payment before we service warrenty which is BS and he said that could be a problem for you with the short season up here.
Awww man I was furious because they are the only local Sea Doo shop in town and now i'm screwed even for the 10hr service.
Where's a place like Riva/PPG when you need em eh.

I guess I better learn to service my own PWC.

Yeah i'm seriously considering it. Either reporting him to Bombardier or talking to his manager or the owner of the store but that will do me no good because he's probably an ******* aswell.

I probably whould have aswell. The dealer i'm talking about is about 5-10 min drive and there is another dealer on Canandaigua lake about 30-35 min drive and unfortunately that's where i'll have to take it even though those guys i'm not to fond of either.

I really don't get those people, they don't see further than the tip of their own noses.
When I was sales manager in a BMW dealership I had to live with this kind of dilema and very soon occured what matters most : customers have the money and feed you, any customer is a good customer.
Besides most brands' policy that mandates every dealership to take equal care of any customer, wherever the car/bike/sled/stereo/tv/PWC has been purchased it is in EVERY dealer's interest to treat everybody the best he can.
Why?
Well the answer is simple : money.
Every dealer should wonder why a customer who lives in the same city drove one hour or more to buy something from another dealer and try to get that customer back just by treating him like any other customer, just because that might make him buy his next car/bike/ski/whatever from you and because even though he doesn't do so, you still make money doing his service.
Also think about that dealer that breaks prices like crazy and doesn't make money out of the sales and you get the business from the service.
That guy is a loser and has no clue of what business is.

Dealers do have preferences to those that are a patron to them. Mine, treats me good. 10 mins away and my ski is in and out within a couple of days - in season and they are jammed. My buddys took them almost a month.

Penny wise and pound foolish he is because he doesn't know how many people I know or friends I have that might be interested in a ski/boat/atv or just a part.
A very good example of this is the company that hooked my car up. Well I have a 1999 Grand Prix and I wanted to switch it up so here's what I did. First I bought $1,800 chrome rims off him. Then I had custom 2-tone heated leather seats installed $1,300. A fiberglass Ram air hood $1,000. A steering wheel cover (stitched) $50 bux. Borla cat back exhaust/Cold Air intake approximately $1,000.
Blazertech foglites and headlites for $200.
Last is my custom Rockford Fosgate Soundsystem with install and all speakers/amps/wire a whopping $3,500.
Ok so you can see I have spent a few bucks modifying my ride and all this was done by auto options of New york.
Now heres what chaps my azz, after all that $$$ spent I decided to buy my brother $90 spark plugs for his Acura from the same guy and they didn't fit so I took them back and he whould not refund me my lousy 90 bux after I spent almost $9,000 with him Eek
That is penny wise pound foolish and how did this guy know I wasn't going to drop some Hydrolics in my car and spend another 3 thousand with him......pffft what an idiot eh?

Sorry for such a long post about nothing really Big Grin

Thats the way these dealers work! Honestly, I can't stand any of the dealers around me. I don't trust them. However, sometimes it's worth it to pay a little more (just a little) at the local dealer knowing you will probably get better service from him.

Well goodmorning to you skysurfer Smile all dealers can't have a reputation like PPG although I e-mailed them twice and they never returned my mail so I took my business elsewhere to way2fast who got back to me right away through e-mail and i'm glad to say i'll be doing business with him in the future.
Thanks Richard.

Take it easy,
Jordan

jimi, first of all because it is a sea doo and they are a doo dealership they MUST honor the warranty regardless of where it was bought. for instance, say u bought it in hawaii and now reside in florida. do they expect u to ship it back to have service work done on it? they are legally obligated to work on your ski and unprofessional for them to tell u that cash customers come first. what if u had spent your 8-9k there in the first place? thats alot of cash. u are still a customer and they get paid from the manufacturer for the warranty work that they doo.

suck-

just because they are obligated to do repairs doesn't mean they can't take you for a ride. they can easily delay the work for as long as they want. plus, they can usually find something to blame the broken part(s) on the buyer and say it isn't covered under warranty. sometimes if you buy the ski from the dealer doing the work they will go a little more out of their way to get the work done under warranty. god i can't stand most dealers... Mad

Well Dan I didn't think anyone whould care to know which hood I had but I have the SD hood not the SLP and the cheapest place I know of to get hoods is 3800 performance and my hood is $729.99 the new SLP hood is $749.99 and the old SLP $709.99 on that site so i'd like to know where your getting 400 dollars for a new fiberglass hood from? Besides IMHO the SLP hood is plain and ugly for the equivelant price of the SD hood.
And the reason I have the hood is because someone backed up into me and ruined me hood so insurance paid for a new stock hood $500 dollars or so and I had to make up the difference and when I say 1,000 that's prep and paint. The hood alone cost me $700.

SMW- you are right they have to honor my warrenty being an authorized SeaDoo dealer but I think Skysurfer leans more towards what is happening with my particular dealer he's really not saying he won't work on my machine he's just basically saying if you have any problems don't expect it back anytime this summer.

in a nutshell, ur right. we have customers that call five times a day wondering when their car will be ready. now we are usually backed up 3days or so but they expect it PRONTO. and yelling at us doesn't get it done any faster either.we also have people that authorize the work, we perform it, and then they just abandon their car with us for months on end , and my idiot boss ends up accepting money for just parts but no labor so we can get rid of it. i tell him to charge storage but he never does. everybody else charges after so many days that the vehicle isn't picked up. and u can be sure they would be the first to cry foul when something happens to the car .burglarized or the like.
