Went down to marco today(keywaden),went for a ride and ended up going to everglades city to get gas.We were almost back out on the gulf,and we stopped on Indian key.The law pulled up and told us we couldnt ride jetskis in everglades national park.Gave us all $100 tickets.Hope this keeps some one frome getting a ticket.

I was down at the Key today but was with the wife on the back so no fun rides for me.

We were out for a long ride and didnt have enough gas to make it back to the island of capri.Indian key is the first island on the chanel(baron river) that goes to everglades city.We had just pulled up on indian key to take a break before heading back.

Here's a link to the American Watercraft Association(AWA)
This group is there to help us jetskiers and they do.
It's propably too late in your case but the AWA is working on opening up more areas for us to ride.
I will be on Marco tomorrow and I'll stop by the water cops to find out about the restrictions around Everglades city.

spoke to the water cops down on Marco Isl. today and was assured that Indian Key is NOT off limits to jetskis.
I told them about your case and they were suprised and wanted to know who wrothe that ticket.
While I was there I got the "Boating and Angling guide to Collier County" and didn't find one mention of skis having an off limit area.
If I were you I would look into this matter some more because maybe someone did you wrong.
Worth checking out , $100 is still money and why should you have to pay when there isn't a mention of any no-ski zones in that area.

Ignorance OF THE LAW IS NO EXCUSE!!!!!!(thats what the park ranger told me)
If you look at the web site for Everglades you will find the rules and regulations for the park.Under boating (NO JET SKIS).The park goes out past indian key.The Marine patrol you talked to should know this,the tickets were written by a park ranger.The map you have shows the gas station we went to and there are no signs in the park that say no jet skis,just signs saying park rules apply.We also got pulled over for going out of the chanel by the marine patrol that day on the way home,he said he would give me a map were we could ride,I got home and looked at it, and it looks like you should be allowed in there.TRUST ME YOU ARE NOT .
