300-DS-UDX6S: This model is intended for use on snowmobiles. Standard features include: engine rpm, jack shaft rpm, speedometer, odometer, four exhaust temperature inputs, water temperature, Ace M10 setting input. There are also warning inputs for the following items: oil level, water temperature, high beam, detonation, premium fuel. The dash has 10 minutes of recording time that you can playback on the display or, optionally, download to our DataLink PC analysis software. Direct plug-in wire harness adaptors are available for most Polaris sleds. (shipping mid November) Wonder if this gauge can be adapted to pwc use. the detonation warning feature sure would be nice. http://bellsouthpwp.net/a/l/allcool/shreddin9%20flea%20flicker.mpg http://www.extremeteamracing.com/shreddin2.mpeg http://www.extremeteamracing.com/shreddin%201.mpeg |

That's almost sexy. Looks like it would fit perfectly over the stock dreamo. Yamaha here's your feedback. Live when I'm alive , Sleep when I'm dead 01 GP1200r |

Fred so you found that dash tach ha? That is surely a great looking piece. I have had my eye on it for the past 3-4 months now. Ever since the new snowmobile mags have been shipping and I even remember it at the end of last season... Man would that fit in perfectly into the Yamaha dash.
Hey you planning any snowmobile trips up this way this year? Sure would be good to get together and do some riding. My wife cann't wait and I sure cann't wait to get out there. Haven't even thought of the GPR since the first snowfall last week.. The GPR's are on the side and not even thought of and the Rev is getting ready to fly across the snow.. Pat, you can bet your snow booties this Yankee will be back up north for some winter wonderland wailing thru the woods and frozen lakes.
I will call before my first trip up and maybe we can hook up with Dana up at Twin Mountain, Pittsburg or Jackman for a weekend with some of my masshole buddies. My buddy with the 900 cat just put pipes on it and is talking like he thinks he is god now and 10' tall and bullet proof. He needs someone to put him in his place. 230hp like this would do it We don't get snowmobile mags down here, can't even get a news stand to order one for me, so I have never seen the Race Pak Dash till a few days ago when Race Pak released it for sale. I am told it can be used for pwc. http://bellsouthpwp.net/a/l/allcool/shreddin9%20flea%20flicker.mpg http://www.extremeteamracing.com/shreddin2.mpeg http://www.extremeteamracing.com/shreddin%201.mpeg |

Mario, I just found out about this dash and don’t know a lot of details but thought it was interesting enough to bring to the attention of the forum.
I am sure sensors, probes and connections will be needed. It’s not plug_and_play for pwc. What I am thinking is some new Sleds have these deto sensors OEM now. We might be able to adapt the oem sled deto sensor(that connect to this Race pak Dash) to a pwc motor since the 2-stroke environment of a sled and pwc are not that far apart other than the power band and ambient temperature they are run in. As far as egt well you know whets involved, the gauge is only part of the system. Pat said he had been looking at it for awhile, he might know the price. I bet Pat, Dana or Carl knows all about these, maybe one of them will enlighten us. I would like to hear more about these OEM detonation detection devices on the new sleds. It might hop right over to pwc. I believe once a deto detection device is installed on a mod pwc everyone will be surprised to see how much deto is really going on in our motors. I also think deto is responsible for a lot more motor melt downs then it gets credit for! http://bellsouthpwp.net/a/l/allcool/shreddin9%20flea%20flicker.mpg http://www.extremeteamracing.com/shreddin2.mpeg http://www.extremeteamracing.com/shreddin%201.mpeg |

it would have to be waterproof for a snowmobile environment, i.e. snow ,slush, ice.i tell ya this thing would be a big hit once someone figures out how to adapt to pwc. i don't think it would be that hard considering both are fairly similar. i agree with allcool on the detonation part

$15 detonation detector
http://www.autospeed.com/cms/article.html?&A=0348 the thought of amplifying my GPR engine noise and then trying to listen to it is scary |

Interesting article
http://www.yamaha-motor.co.jp/eng/profile/technical/no28/technicalnotes/0001/ So what sensors does Riva, R&D, Group K, etc. use to do detonation detection? [This message was edited by Philip_GPR on Sat November 08 2003 at 01:26 PM.] |

quote: It really wouldn't have to be any more than splashproof, a PWCs water resistance demands are much greater as you will need instrulments that are actually submersible if you want your investment to survive, specially in salt water enviroments. Mario |

mario, i meant to say water-resistant
