Boat ramps are a place where you can find/see some of the weirdest things happen.

There are so many people out there that are uneducated & ignorant about boats/watercraft, launching, courtesy, patience, boating etiquette, manners, time management & common sense.

During the summer, you can sit back and enjoy the show at any boat ramp. Cool

As kids my brother and I grew up one block from a popular boat ramp in our home town. We used to spend hours watching (and laughing at) newbies and drunkards trying to launch and/or retrieve their boats only to end up completely sinking thier car or truck. The local towing company was smart enough to post a sign at the ramp offering removal service!!!! Razz Big Grin

happened on the gold coast(aus) here today
guy left his car in reverse then took off car went wrong way and he was still in it while it was sinking
his mate on the jet ski that had just been launched noticed the drama and helped get him out
the driver was to embarased and would not talk on camera but his mate did Big Grinthey were not locals so will probably blame the ramp for ins. reasons

I remember seeing a post of a brand new C5 Corvette that sunk at a ramp. I think about that every time I put my parking brake on at the ramp.

So,
Preface: During the AZ monsoon seasons, I like to get to the lake as the storms are rolling in and get some excellent wind driven waves and such to play on. Sometimes the lightning storms show up and start blasting near the lake.

I punched a hole in the back of the ski one trip and needed to load up while the storm was thrashing the lake pretty hard. I backed the trailer in, went and got the Polaris 3 seater, and headed to the ramp.

As I neared the trailer, the SMART thing to do would have been to hop off and walk the ski up to the trailer... Instead, I tried to ride on the trailer. That's about the time, a rogue wave picked up my ski and tossed it OVER the trailer, and dropped it into the trunk of my Grand Am and on the tongue of the trailer. I had to back the car, INTO the lake to get the ski loose, then pull out. Surprisingly, the only thing hurt was the trailer tongue was trashed, the hoist was ripped clean off, a hole in the polaris nose, and of course, my pride. Big Grin
