This was in Novice 1200 stock.
In Superstock, the STXR beat the RXP. |

The RXP in NOT a good boat at all!! I was SOOO disapointed when I sold my STXR and took one for a test ride.....what a POS!! It does not turn well.....Feels like a TANK, has Silly handle bar positioning, thumb (dumb) throttle has to go and it is very squirly at top speed.....feels like im gonna go swiming. I should not have sold the STXR....IMO the STXR is still the best boat out there....just needs a little more power to be perfect. I will buy another STXR in the spring or if they come out with a real kick azz 4 stroke version of the STX then maybe that....but the rxp?! NO WAY!! I dont care what top speed it has!

NOW WAIT A SECOND!!!
How can an RXP even race Stock class? Did the classifications change? I thought if it was supercharged or turbo charged it had to race Limited or SS? Even still, I believe that a dialed in XPL Stock will beat an RXP in CC. My question is, if you take a normally aspirated STX 15F and add that flame arrestor breather thing on it that is supposed to produce more HP, is it still stock class legal? I rode the hell out of one and its a great boat, handles exactly like an STXR, except its a little more forgiving on tall guys like me and it has not trim on it. stock class you can change flame arrestors, ride plate , intake grate , steering, cdi unit does not matter what ski they classify the 15 f in 1200 class from show room you can change all items above

quote: Not a chance!! and the rxp that I rode had a stage 1 kit as well and it couldnt keep up with the stxr in rough water....in flat water is was gone....but does not turn even close to as good as the stxr not even close. It's no race boat, but it is fast in a straight line in calm water. I want my STXR back........I got cought up in the hype of the RXP and gave up the better boat!! 2002 Canadian Novice 1200Ltd Champion |

How much money did you drop on that STXR after you bought it Dave? Many, many, thousands... If you are tall, it's still just a painful, jarring, ride, only good for midgets on a closed course. Some find it ugly. I don't. Well, there was that pea-green that came out a couple of years ago.
But you did this on the GPR too. THOUSANDS. IMHO, the GPR STOCK is one of the worst ski's I ever rode...but one of the BEST once some things were done to it. You parted that one out after adding THOUSANDS of dollars worth of CF, and THOUSANDS in go fast goodies. Are you telling me you would rather change out carbs to NOVI's than change out a thumb throttle and some mats??? Is verticle steering that hard to change??? What made you think that a ski based off of a recreational hull (and a poor turning one at that) would be the next closed course champ? quote: I'm bored, so I'll throw this out for you. -RXP does NOT like straight lines. It hunts across waves, and the rear end flops back and forth. A R&D grate fixes this. -RXP does NOT like glass. You can "feel" the nose bobbing up/down, as it fights off the hook in the rear of the hull. I will assume that shaving the hook will eliminate this...but what will it do to the rest of the package? -RXP turns pretty good. DO NOT REMOVE THE OPAS, Instead, just install the RXP grate. It is a world of difference. The WORX sponsons are not very good. I pity da fool that actually installed those jokes. I hope someone comes out with a set of sponsons that work... soon. Fat and unskilled people riding on flat lakes is most of the population that ride today. So therefore Seadoo hit a HOME RUN with the sales of the RXP. Guess what? Now Kawi and Yami are scrambling to try and play catch up. Ouch! Infant mortality will strike these models as well. quote: I did spend thousands on parts but never had the time to install them, therefore, I am comparing a stock STXR to the rxp. I dont think anyone would catch me if I were riding the STXR and someone else were riding the rxp on a closed course. Believe me....it's not that I am sea doo bashing......I sold the STXR AND thousands in part TO buy the rxp.......and just before I bought it I found out that a friend of mine bought one, So I decided to take his for a ride first. I had my check book ready at that point, and would have bought one the very next day, (I still have the mony saved up for a new boat -It does not turn well at all, and you can feel some serious weight when trying to manhandle it. -The Silly handle bar positioning can be changed, but it still PiZZed me of that it was like that. -The nose likes to bounce causing HUGE splashes in the face...Very annoying. -The rear end feels worst than an ultra150 in chop, and I almost went swimming at 70mph. There were a bunch of other issues too....... It's just not for me....the ONLY thing it has going for it is the top speed, but thats not the most important thing to me anymore. Maybe thay will get it right with a 215HP XP. 2002 Canadian Novice 1200Ltd Champion |

Since I was in the race being referred to here, I will ad my 2 cents. The RXP(s) (yes, there were at least two in the race), were in a different class. They had the Novice 1200 stock class combined with several other classes. In any event, one of the RXPs won the overall and the other didn't fare so well. I was lapping the slower one on my XP DI and had a heck of a time getting around it. I was surprised that it didn't walk away from me on the long straighaways.
After riding an RXP, I agree that it is not a good handling ski. In fact, it reminds me of an big Ultra 150. So it is fast in a straight line. I'll take my XP DI over it any day. And, GPR riders, I used to own two GPRs. I miss them badly. My XP carves, but the GPR is a much better ski overall. |

I wouldnt put too much stock in what ski beat what ski on the race course.... rider skill makes all the difference.
At the begining of last season I was almost getting laped by a STXR, couldnt believe how fast that "ski" was... but by the end of the season with a little more practice I was right on his arse... All skis have there advantages and disadvantges... its all in how you put them to use.
