Ive seen this question a few times... the GPR is obviously less expensive and will be alot easier and less costly to reach high speeds. I believe that dollar for dollar the GPR can be modded alot easier and less costly. Other than that, it would be a basis on taste. I would get hom to ride each one, then decide which one suits him better. I did that and chose the gpr. I didnt like the feel of the RXP especially in chop, seemed a bit unstable, but thats only my opinion.

i ride with 3 rxp and four gpr 1300.. if i had to roar about in calm water all day and did not mind the chance of a costly repair i would go seadoo.. if like i do ride in open sea and wave jump then as i did get the gpr.. both nearly the same on petrol use..i may be a little one sided but the seadoo dont cut the mustard in the open water my mates stage 1+ cant get near any stock gpr in the rough all said both great fun so if hes going to take the plunge try both but if in the sea go for the yam..had dozens of yams and never been let down.

Well you have the GPR let him get the RXP and then the 2 of you can see which one was the better deal. Both are kick ass skis. A little tweak here and there you both can be doing 70mph.
Both have issues so flip a coin. But the one that is going to hit you fast if you ride in chop and jump waves is the sc clutch on the RXP. Sure it may be under warranty but you will have or they will have a significant down time.
Or you can just put metal washers in from the get go and not have to worry so much. Still waiting on the longterm of the metal washers.
I'd tell your friend to wait just a bit longer for the new kawasaki. It's suppose to have 240hp.........They should have some info at the end of this month on the specs. But for the looks department, it does look cool.

The Hornet is right.... I had to tow a buddy's RXP in a few weeks ago because of bad sc washers (among other things)... I think that one primary difference is weight... while neither ski is exactly "light"... the RXP has about 200 lbs on the GPr... which shows up when you try to throw it around... On the Kawa new ski... I will believe when I see.... that one was rumored to come out when the Yammy replacement for the GPr came out.... so, it isn't real until it's real....

To most who know better looks aren't everything. I would rather have a ski that does not have (issues) and less bling then one that has bling and problems.

Ha . I had to tow in a new sea-poo sc 2 weeks ago with my 04 13. Split in half and took on water.Sunk!!! Filled whole engine compartment. Ski is put together in two pieces. Just under the seat there is a black plastic trim. Underneath that is where it seperated and water came through..we were able to slip the thickness of 3 cds through and into the engine comp. Stay away from waves if you want that sea-poo PPK 14/20 87 Nozzle Ext Nozzle Stepped Sponsons Custom Seat (m-line) R&D D-plate W/Sensor Riva Free Flow(4 Muscle Sound haha) 07' 1300r....Jumping Big waves!!
